House hearing erupts over Sen. Padilla’s removal from Noem press conference
Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Fla., was shouted down after asking whether Republicans would agree to investigate the incident involving Padilla.
„I have a point of order,“ Frost said.
„State your point,“ replied Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the committee chair.
„We have to subpoena Secretary Noem,“ Frost said.
„That‘s not a point of order,“ Comer responded.
The hearing quickly devolved into lawmakers shouting over one another, with Comer at one point telling Frost to „shut up.“
Alex Padilla confrontation in LA shocks senators
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said it “sickened my stomach — the manhandling of a United States Senator.” Padilla’s California colleague Adam Schiff called for an immediate investigation.
Several other Democrats were dropping the word “fascism” in conversations as they made their way out of the Capitol.
California senator Alex Padilla forcibly removed from Kristi Noem LA press conference
Security guards wrestled Padilla out of the conference room as he explained he was a senator and wanted to ask the homeland security secretary a question.
Speaking to reporters after the incident, Padilla said: ‚If this is how this administration responds to a senator with a question, you can only imagine what they’re doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day labourers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California and throughout the country‘
Sen. Alex Padilla handcuffed by federal agents at immigration press conference
About five minutes into a press conference at the Westwood federal building, Noem told the media that the Trump administration planned to “liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that the governor and the mayor have placed on this country.”
Padilla, who was standing near a wall on one side of the room, then tried to interrupt Noem to ask a question, video footage shows. Cameras turned toward him as two Secret Service agents tried to push him backward. “Sir, sir, hands up,” one said.

UK ‚currently‘ training Israel soldiers on UK soil, Labour admit
The news came in response to a written question at Westminster, put in by Labour MP for York Central Rachael Maskell. (…)
Pollard said: “As part of routine defence engagement with Israel, the UK is currently training a limited number of Israel Defense Forces personnel on UK-based training courses.”
The news comes despite the Labour Government sanctioning two Israeli ministers – Itamar Ben-Gvir, the security minister, and Bezalel Smotrich, the finance minister.
The UK Government has also continued to send military equipment to Israel, and has declined to block exports of parts for F-35 fighter jets despite evidence that they have been used in Gaza.

Egypt detains nearly 200 foreigners who flew in to join Gaza march
Egyptian authorities have detained and questioned more than 200 people who arrived in Cairo to participate in the Global March to Gaza, an international action intended to break Israel’s siege on the territory, the organisers said on Thursday.
According to the march organisers, some 4000 people from over 40 countries had booked flights to Cairo, with many already arriving ahead of the planned march.
The activists had flown to Cairo to join a grassroots land convoy which set off from the Tunisian capital on Monday in the hopes of reaching Egypt’s Rafah border with Gaza as a “symbolic act” to spotlight Israel’s crippling 18-year siege on the territory.

In an official statement, the operations room held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the blackout, citing a direct attack on the last remaining main fiber optic route connecting Gaza.
According to the statement, this strike has caused an inclusive digital blackout, now affecting the central and southern governorates of the Strip. These areas join Gaza City and the northern region, which have already been disconnected for two days.

Freedom Flotilla Volunteers on the ‘Madleen’ face Solitary Confinement – Update from Adalah Legal team
Occupied Palestine – The Freedom Flotilla Coalition strongly condemns the Israeli government’s use of solitary confinement against two of its detained volunteers: Rima Hassan, a Palestinian Member of the European Parliament, and Thiago Ávila, a Brazilian human rights defender and member of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition Steering Committee. Both were aboard the Madleen, a civilian aid ship carrying humanitarian supplies to Gaza when it was unlawfully seized by Israeli forces in international waters.
Rima Hassan was reportedly placed in solitary confinement after writing “Free Palestine” on the wall of her cell. While she has since been removed from solitary and returned to Givon prison, her detention and the punitive measures taken against her remain a direct attack on a democratically elected official who has consistently advocated for justice, liberation, and an end to the illegal blockade of Gaza. Silencing a parliamentarian in this manner underscores the brutality and impunity of the Zionist regime.
Thiago Ávila has also been forcibly isolated — confined in a small, dark, airless, and contactless cell, where Israeli authorities have threatened to detain him for seven days. Ávila is on his third day of a hunger and water strike to denounce Israel’s crimes and the complicity of governments that have remained shamefully silent.

Why it matters: The call between Trump and Netanyahu took place several days before the expiration of the two-month deadline Trump gave Iran for reaching a deal.
