In a powerful display of solidarity, an estimated half a million people filled the streets of central London to mark the 77th anniversary of the Nakba and protest Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza. The historic pro-Palestine demonstration called for urgent and decisive action from the UK government—including the immediate enforcement of a full arms embargo on Israel.
Reporting from the scene, Middle East Eye captured a wide range of voices, from Jewish protesters declaring “Not in our name,” to international allies like Greg Stoker, a former US Special Forces operative, who traced his solidarity with Palestine back to his military experience and disillusionment with U.S. foreign policy.

These efforts at erasure have been ongoing for 76 years, since the Nakba. They have targeted our leaders, intellectuals and artists. Indeed, Rashad’s story is not unique: Israel has killed thousands of Palestinians like him, people who dared to dream of a better world, and to use their talents to inspire others.
I don’t know what to say or do in the face of such grief. Rashad shone so brightly. I will not let his memory fade.

Many will say this is the second Palestinian Nakba, and it is for the majority of Palestinians in Gaza who were driven from their homes and lands in 1948.
But for my family, and for nearly 30 percent of Gaza’s population, this is our first experience of Nakba. This is the first time our connection to the city that has held our lives, our stories, and our history, for thousands of years, has been disrupted.
The house my aunty was driven out of belongs to my great-grandfather and was first built during the Ottoman empire, more than 100 years ago. Our neighbourhood, Tuffah, and its adjacent Mohatta Street, where the old railway station used to be, are much older than Israel and all its wars.
Israel’s Intelligence Minister just wrote an op-ed advocating for the permanent displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and that other countries pay for it. That would be ethnic cleansing — a crime against humanity. @POTUS must ensure US aid and arms are not used in such crimes.
The idea of expelling Arabs to other countries was once linked to far-right radicals, and thus considered anathema by most Israelis. Now, to the delight of extremists, the idea is gaining traction as a „moral“ solution to the war

Some world leaders are already discussing a worldwide refugee resettlement scheme and saying they would welcome Gazans to their countries. This could be supported by many nations around the world, especially those that claim to be friends of the Palestinians.
This is an opportunity for those who say they support the Palestinian people to show these are not just empty words.

PM warns ministers to pipe down after comments on new ‘Nakba’ and nuking Gaza
“Every word has meaning when it comes to diplomacy. If you don’t know — don’t speak,” the prime minister said during Sunday’s cabinet meeting.
“We must be sensitive,” he added.
The prime minister was referring to recent comments by ministers that are viewed as having caused damage to Israel’s international legitimacy.

The main phase of the fighting took place between 16 and 27 September 1970, though certain aspects of the conflict continued until 17 July 1971.
After the 1967 Six-Day War, Palestinian fedayeen guerrillas relocated to Jordan and stepped up their attacks on Israel and the occupied territories. They were headquartered at the Jordanian border town of Karameh, which Israel targeted during a battle in 1968, leading to a surge of Arab support for the fedayeen. The PLO‘s strength grew, and by early 1970, groups within the PLO began calling for the overthrow of Jordan‘s Hashemite monarchy, leading to violent clashes in June 1970.
Displacing Palestinians from West Bank is ‚red line‘, declaration of war: Jordan FM
Such efforts by Israel „is a red line for Jordan, as we will confront it with all our capabilities because it is a violation of international law,“ Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi said during an emergency parliamentary session on Gaza.
He added that displacing people from one occupied territory to another would be a war crime, in reference to Palestinians in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and thus „a declaration of war“ by Amman, which established ties with Israel in 1994.
Jordan will consider expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza as declaration of war: Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh
Any attempt to remove Palestinians from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank is a red line for Jordan. This was announced by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom, Bisher Khasawneh, Al Mamlaka TV reported.
„The Jordanian government will consider the expulsion of Palestinians from their territories as a declaration of war against them. All options for responding to the escalation of Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip are on the table,“ he emphasized.

At least 37 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and close to 1700 others wounded as the Israeli army fired live ammunition and teargas and firebombs at protesters assembled along several points near the fence with Israel.
Of the 1693 wounded, the ministry of health said at least 74 were below the age of 18, 23 were women and eight were journalists.
