US sending 2 Patriot missile batteries to Poland: Statement

„At the direction of the Secretary of Defense and at the invitation of our Polish allies, General Wolters, Commander of US European Command, has directed US Army Europe and Africa to reposition two Patriot Batteries to Poland,“ United States European Command (EUCOM) spokesman Capt. Adam Miller said in a statement.
„This defensive deployment is being conducted proactively to counter any potential threat to US and Allied forces and NATO territory,“ said the statement, adding the missiles „will in no way support any offensive operations.”

The African counties participating were Angola, Benin, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, the Republic of Congo, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.

Nun, die Situation in Asien ist für viele Europäer verwirrend. Das liegt daran, dass viele Europäer nicht mehr wissen, wo Asien liegt. Asien beginnt am Ende Sibiriens und endet am Nil. Nun befassen wir uns mit den geostrategischen Grundlagen des US-Militärs. Das hat sich die Welt in den „Vereinigten Kampf-Kommandaturen“ („unified combatant commands) in „Verantwortungsbereiche“ aufgeteilt. Zum Verantwortungsbereich („area of responsibility“) des Europakommandos („Eucom“) gehören bislang auch drei Länder Asiens: Syrien, der Libanon und Israel. Ebenso natürlich die israelisch besetzten Gebiete, sowie der Gazastreifen.
Das möchte General David Petraeus, Chef des Zentralkommandos (Centcom), und damit u.a. direkter Vorgesetzter der US-Kommandeure in den eroberten Ländern Irak und Afghanistan, gerne ändern. Um den Zusammenhang nun denkbar ausreichend zu erläutern: dazwischen liegt der Iran.

Persischer Golf: U.S. und E.U. bereiten „Koordination“ ihrer Streitkräfte vor
Vor der Entsendung der im Vorfeld in „Operation Sentinel“ und „Force Generation“ formal aufgeteilten Streitkräfte von U.S.A. und E.U. in den Persischen Golf, spricht sich U.S.-Verteidigungsminister Mark Esper heute in Paris bezüglich deren „Koordination“ ab. Diese wird bereits seit Juli im Zentralkommando (Centcom) operativ vorbereitet.

What Centcom officers were worried about is that they would take a back seat to the European and Pacific commands. In fact, there’s a clear, if unstated, pecking order among the commands, retired Col. Kevin Benson, a former director of the Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies, notes. ‘The three most important commands are in Europe, which is Eucom, the Pacific, which is Pacom and now, because of Iran, the Middle East – which is Centcom. Southcom, the Southern Command, is almost always last in priority.’
