U.S. Seeks Two-Year U.N. Mandate for Gaza Stabilization Force
It is not clear whether the draft would have enough support at the Security Council to be approved. Nine of the 15 members would need to vote in favor of it, and all five permanent members, including Russia and China, would have to abstain from a veto.
The draft is largely in line with Mr. Trump’s plan, which was first presented in September. It says the force would operate under the guidance of an international body known as the “Board of Peace,” and that its mandate would expire on Dec. 31, 2027. The draft suggests that date could be extended.
Scoop: U.S. seeks UN approval for Gaza security force with broad two-year mandate
The U.S. sent several UN Security Council members a draft resolution on Monday for the establishment of an international force in Gaza for a duration of at least two years, according to a copy obtained by Axios.
Netanyahu says Israel will decide which foreign troops acceptable to secure Gaza ceasefire
(October 27, 2025)
„We are in control of our security, and we have also made it clear regarding international forces that Israel will determine which forces are unacceptable to us, and this is how we operate and will continue to operate,“ Netanyahu said.
„This is, of course, acceptable to the United States as well, as its most senior representatives have expressed in recent days,“ he told a session of his cabinet.
Election Day 2025: Race for NYC mayor, New Jersey governor and more | Live updates
Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa are all vying to become the 111th mayor of New York, the economic and cultural capital of the country.
And Mikie Sherrill and Jack Ciattarelli are running against each other to become New Jersey‘s governor in a contentious race that has gained considerable national attention.
New Jersey is one of only two gubernatorial races across the country, and since it comes one year after a presidential election and one year before the midterm elections, it is often seen as an indicator how both the White House and Congress are doing.
Antonio Delgado Introduces Proposal to Transform The New York State Democratic Party
(October 7, 2025)
“As someone who’s served in Congress and worked in government, I’ve seen firsthand how much it matters to have a state party that is strong, transparent, and connected to the people it represents,” said former United States Representative, Max Rose. “For too long, New York Democrats have lacked that. This plan is about rebuilding trust and giving our party the tools it needs to win in every community — urban, suburban, and rural alike.”
“I can’t remember the last time the State Party invited this level of engagement. Too often, county leaders have been treated like an afterthought,” said Liz Moran, Chair of the Madison County Democratic Committee. “The frank discussion among State Committee members and county chairs showcased the value of having grassroots voices truly at the center.”
“What struck me most about the call was how collaborative it felt. Lieutenant Governor Delgado isn’t dictating — he’s inviting,” said Bekkie Bryan, Chair of the Cortland County Democratic Committee. “That openness, paired with his bold vision, is exactly what we need to rebuild trust in the State Party.”
Delgado For Governor: A vision for the future of New York.
Antonio Delgado has a vision for New York. A vision that allows all New Yorkers to afford to live and grow our families here. A New York that can fight back with vigilance against threats from the Trump Administration. A New York that will again lead the country as a beacon of freedom and prosperity for the people – all people.
Running to Hochul’s left, Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado says tax hikes on the wealthiest may be on the table
(June 18, 2025)
Earlier Wednesday, Gov. Hochul told Pix 11, “I don’t want to lose more people to Palm Beach“ when asked about New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s plan to raise taxes. Delgado referenced the governor’s comment when explaining his own position on taxes.
“All options should be on the table, and the notion that we wouldn’t contemplate raising taxes on the super wealthy, or that we wouldn’t contemplate making sure that larger corporations pay more into the system, to me, is the exact type of ‘maintain the status quo, do what you need to do just to maintain power’ as opposed to actually thinking about what is required,” he stated.
Hochul has raised corporate taxes, but has held the line on raising new income taxes.
NYC early voting ends with record turnout, shattering 2021 stats
Early voting has ended in New York City, and the initial numbers show the highest early voting turnout for a non-presidential election in the city.
The New York City Board of Elections reported 735,317 early voting check-ins over the past nine days. That‘s more than four times the total from the 2021 mayoral race, which reported only 169,879 early voting check-ins for the general election.
2025 Mayor’s Race – EARLY VOTING: Turnout sets a non-presidential election year record as NYC Mayor’s Race energizes the city
A whopping 732,866 voters cast ballots over the nine days of early voting in the New York City mayor’s race this year, according to an amNewYork analysis of early voter data from the city Board of Elections.
The general election’s early voting turnout this year marked the highest number of votes cast before Election Day in a non-presidential election year since the city implemented early voting in 2019.
Health care, housing and wages: Antonio Delgado says New York Democrats need to stand for something
(March 20, 2025)
„Ultimately, we don‘t have a unified front where everybody‘s on the same page about saying, “Hey, wait a second. We‘re all trying to make a living here. We‘re all trying to get by, irrespective of race, irrespective of gender and sexual orientation. We‘re all trying to make a living. Why is it so hard for all of us to make a living?”
We have to be able to address it, because if we don‘t address it, then we will continue to be in the stock that we‘re in, because people will not invest in the system. They will stay home; 500,000 Democrats stayed home in New York. So people are staying home.“
Antonio Delgado, Hochul’s No. 2, Will Challenge Her in Governor’s Race
(June 2, 2025)
After months of open political warfare with Ms. Hochul, Mr. Delgado said Monday he would challenge her in next year’s Democratic primary.
“People are hurting and New York deserves better leadership,” Mr. Delgado said in an interview. “There’s an absence of bold, decisive, transformational leadership.”
That phrase has become the theme for Mr. Delgado’s campaign, the first official challenge to Ms. Hochul, and a message he repeats in a video announcing his candidacy.
He never mentions Ms. Hochul by name in the video, but he suggests that everyday New Yorkers deserve a governor with a vision to fight for them as they face unaffordable housing, child care and health care costs.
Here’s Every Bill That Kathy Hochul Vetoed in 2024
(January 3, 2025)
In her first three full years in office, she axed an average of roughly one in seven bills that went to her desk, a higher rate than her recent predecessors. And she has continued to negotiate so-called chapter amendments to dozens of other bills, signing less legislation as the legislature passed it than any governor since at least George Pataki — a Republican who presided over a divided legislature for his entire tenure. (Hochul, by contrast, has only ever worked with a legislature led by her fellow Democrats.)
This year, she vetoed 124 standalone bills as well as 15 line items in the state budget.
New York State Executive Law: Powers and Responsibilities
Governor’s Powers
The governor of New York holds broad authority under the state constitution and Executive Law, serving as the chief executive responsible for enforcing state laws. Article IV, Section 3 grants the governor the power to propose legislation, approve or veto bills, and convene special legislative sessions. The veto power includes a line-item veto for budget appropriations, allowing the governor to eliminate specific expenditures without rejecting an entire bill. Overriding a veto requires a two-thirds majority in both legislative chambers, making gubernatorial decisions difficult to overturn without strong legislative opposition.
The governor also controls the state’s budgetary process under Article VII, submitting an annual executive budget that outlines expenditures and revenue sources. The Court of Appeals, in Silver v. Pataki (2004), upheld the governor’s dominant role in budget negotiations, reinforcing executive influence over financial policy. This control extends to discretionary funds allocated for economic development, infrastructure, and other initiatives without legislative approval.
Bürgermeisterwahl in New York Mamdani – klarer Favorit mit besonderen Plänen
