Noa wrote today on X, “Yesterday at the protest march on the Gaza border, we called for an end to this terrible and brutal war that is killing hostages and soldiers, and starving, burning, and murdering endless children and innocent people. Enough, enough, enooough!!!” “We brought food, signs, words, we brought our pain and love. There were speeches. One person read a heartbreaking letter from a friend in Gaza. There were also silent circles, singing (I sang through a megaphone), and cries of anguish… I felt there was no other place I wanted or could be. The conscience and heart of an entire country was reduced to a thousand people in white who refuse to let their hearts — our hearts — turn to stone.”

The illusion of democracy would remain. In reality, Blue and White would be ratifying Netanyahu’s moves in the midst of the pandemic panic.

The announcement’s significance lies in the fact that some public opinion polls have favored Gantz’s number two, fellow former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, over the current party leader.

The goal is to replicate the dramatic success of the Joint List in the March 2020 Knesset elections, when it won 15 seats.

In February, Palestinian prisoners released as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement were forced to wear shirts emblazoned with the Star of David, the Israel Prison Service (IPS) logo, and the phrase “We will not forget and we will not forgive” in Arabic.
Now, a Jewish-Israeli detainee in IPS custody has also been subjected to this humiliating practice: IPS officers compelled left-wing activist Itamar Greenberg, who was arrested last Sunday, May 24 at an anti-war protest, to wear a shirt with the inscription “Am Yisrael Chai” (“The Nation of Israel Lives”). During his detention, they also cursed at him, and threatened that next time they would tattoo a Star of David on his face — as had previously been done to a Palestinian detainee from East Jerusalem.

The death toll in the Gaza Strip has reached 54,880, the majority of whom were women and children, since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2023. At least 126,227 others have also been injured.
Medical sources confirmed that of the total casualties, 4,603 civilians have been killed and 14,186 have been injured since March 18, 2025, when the Israeli occupation resumed its aggression on the Gaza Strip after breaking the ceasefire agreement.

California Democrats push to block ICE from schools, hospitals and shelters

ICE last week raided two San Diego restaurants in a search for workers allegedly living in the country illegally, setting off a confrontation with protesters outside. Immigration agents in April showed up trying to speak with students at two Los Angeles elementary schools; school administrators turned them away. That month they also detained a group of day laborers in the parking lot of a Pomona Home Depot.
The lawmakers’ proposals sailed through the Legislature so far, and passed the Senate this week with near-unanimous support from Democrats. They now head to the Assembly.
Newsom calls Trump deployment of Nat’l Guard ‘purposefully inflammatory
The White House said in a statement Saturday that Trump was deploying the Guardsmen to “address the lawlessness that has been allowed to fester” in California.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, objected to the move and said in a post on X that the move from the Republican president was “purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.”

Violent confrontations erupted between protesters and federal agents this morning in Paramount after news of an immigration raid near a local Home Depot.
The chaotic scenes marked the second day of clashes after a string of enforcement operations across Los Angeles County began Friday.

Gomez, whose 34th District includes several prominent ethnic enclaves in Los Angeles, told KTLA. “We have, as members of Congress, a right to conduct oversight…to make sure [detainees] have a place to sleep, that they have access to their medicines, food and water and access to a restroom…they also have a right to counsel.”
“But we were given this excuse that we weren’t allowed in because of our safety,” Gomez continued. “And it’s like ‘What safety issue?’ [because] there’s no safety issue.”

LOS ANGELES, CA – Representative Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) issued the following statement in response to disturbing reports that immigrants showing up for routine check-ins with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles were detained and held in basement rooms — some overnight — under inhumane conditions:
“These are very disturbing reports from LA‘s Roybal Federal Building. Law-abiding asylum seekers — many with kids — are being detained after showing up for routine ICE check-ins. No food. No water. Locked in holding rooms for over 12 to 24 hours.
“These are not criminals. These are families who followed the rules. Filed the paperwork. Showed up on time. Instead, they‘re being treated like they broke the law just for seeking asylum.
“One attorney reports her client was held without food or water from 2pm through the next day. His wife and 2 kids waited 12+ hours with nothing. No water. No explanation.

Federal officers created a skirmish line to push back protestors gathered in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday night. The protests erupted over a series of ICE raids taking place across L.A. County over the weekend.

“They have woke us up,” Tia Orr told me Saturday morning. She’s the executive director of the 700,000-strong Service Employees International Union California, of which Huerta is a part, and the first African American and Latina to lead the organization.
“And I think they’ve woke people up across the nation, certainly in California, and people are ready to get to action,” she added. “I haven’t seen that in a long time. I don’t know that I’ve seen something like that before, and so yes, it is going to result in action that I believe is going to be historical.”
Protesters confront immigration agents, deputies during raid in Los Angeles County
United States Attorney Bill Essayli stated on social media that federal law enforcement operations are “proceeding as planned this weekend in Los Angeles County” and advised that anyone who tries to interfere with their enforcement will be arrested and prosecuted.
Early Saturday afternoon, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Director Kristi Noem put out a similar warning.

Law enforcement in riot gear made their way to downtown Los Angeles. Smoke bombs were thrown across the scene as Los Angeles County is in Day 2 of anti-ICE protests. It is unknown if these are members of the National Guard.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted a raid in Paramount on Saturday morning, a day after federal agents raided several locations across Los Angeles. Large groups of protesters quickly assembled near the sites of the raids on both Friday and Saturday and the protests continued into Saturday night.
