‘He got tired of me winning’: How Thomas Massie outmaneuvered Trump on Epstein
The president could order the release of the entire Epstein document trove at any time, vote or no vote. So far, he’s declined to do so.
Senate GOP leaders have not committed to holding a vote on the Epstein bill if the House passes it as expected this week. While Republicans still widely assume the measure will die in the other chamber, it will be hard to argue to GOP senators that they should take the political heat while their House counterparts get to take a consequence-free vote.
Massie has been working with Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), who authored a Senate version of the bill, to bring the matter to a head across the Rotunda. Senate Democrats are already exploring options to force a vote in the coming weeks.
Trump urges Republicans to vote to release Epstein files, marking stark reversal
(updated 12 hours ago)
Trump’s reversal comes as expectations of mass GOP defections grew ahead of a House vote this week on an attempt to force the Justice Department to release all of the Epstein case files.
GOP Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California last week gathered enough signatures on a discharge petition to force such a vote.
Massie and Khanna appeared optimistic earlier Sunday about their bill’s chances of passing, insisting there was growing support among the GOP in the House.
Lawmakers Revive War Powers Debate as Trump Threatens Iran
In the House, a Democrat and a Republican teamed up on Tuesday to introduce a resolution that would require congressional approval before U.S. troops could engage in offensive attacks against Iran. The measure by Representatives Ro Khanna, Democrat of California, and Thomas Massie, Republican of Kentucky, underscored a view held by many in Congress that Mr. Trump should not be able to decide on his own whether the United States wades deeper into the conflict. Thirteen additional Democrats signed on to the resolution, but no Republicans so far were supporting the effort.
Conservative and progressive House members vote to withdraw US troops from Somalia, but majorities in both parties shoot measure down
(April 27, 2023)
The text of the measure would have instructed „the President to remove all United States Armed Forces, other than United States Armed Forces assigned to protect the United States Embassy, from Somalia by not later than the date that is 365 days after the date of the adoption of this resolution.“
Minorities from both parties voted in favor of the measure, with leftist lawmakers like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) joining with conservative legislators like Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) to support the concurrent resolution.
The House just voted to repeal the AUMF in Iraq and then we get this from Biden. It’s time to bring our troops home from Iraq.
Wow. I agree. Do you believe in miracles? The more you take money out of the equation, the more the left and right-wing can agree. We should end Snowden‘s absurd exile. He‘s an American hero.
Employees of the US government violated the Constitution and lied to Congress and the American people about it. @Snowden exposed them. This is bigger than him. If he’s punished for his service to the Constitution, there will be more violations of the Constitution, and more lies.
Gaetz says Cheney should be removed or step down as GOP leader
Gaetz accused Cheney, the third-ranking House GOP member, of working behind the scenes and in public against President Trump, making the charges on Twitter and on his podcast.
In times of panic, it is good to have someone with a cool, level MIT head asking the tough questions. Thank you @RepThomasMassie
Today I joined the Rush Limbaugh show with guest host @kenmatthews to talk about the unconstitutional attempt by leadership on both sides of the aisle to pass the LARGEST SPENDING BILL EVER without actually voting. Miss the interview? You can listen here:
I don’t know a member of Congress more principled or dedicated to the Constitution than @RepThomasMassie . @SpeakerPelosi delayed this process repeatedly and sent the House into recess before its job was complete. Big mistake!
Massie defiant, criticizes leaders for preventing him from speaking on floor
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) blasted Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Friday for not allowing him to speak on the floor before the House approved a $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus package.
Massie had sought to force a roll-call vote on the measure, earning a condemnation from President Trump in the process and criticism from a number of members of Congress.
Trump calls for ousting GOP congressman from party ahead of coronavirus relief vote
„Looks like a third rate grandstander named (Thomas Massie), a congressman from, unfortunately, a truly GREAT state, Kentucky, wants to vote against the new Save Our Workers Bill in Congress,“ Trump tweeted early Friday.
Massie‘s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but the congressman signaled he was moving forward despite bipartisan calls to forgo calling for a roll call vote.
(8/11) This bill creates even more secrecy around a Federal Reserve that still refuses to be audited. It allows the Federal Reserve to make decisions about who gets what, how much money we’ll print. With no transparency.
I just left the floor where I spoke out against the Patriot Act/FISA Reauthorization. Video below:

I’ve attended several hours of the secret depositions as a member of @GOPoversight cmte. Unfortunately, most of my colleagues and all of the media must rely on leaks to form their opinions. I’m urging @SpeakerPelosi to release the transcripts of the depositions immediately.
What Will Weapons Inspectors Find in Syria – And Does it Matter?
In a Tweet just days ago, Rep. Thomas Massie expressed frustration that in a briefing to Congress last week the Director of National Intelligence, the Secretary of State, and the Secretary of Defense “provided zero real evidence” that Assad carried out the attack. Either they have it and won’t share it with Congress, he wrote, or they have nothing. Either way, he added, it’s not good. We should share Rep. Massie‘s concerns.
