‘This Must Stop’: Call Grows for US Lawmakers to Pass Lebanon War Powers Resolution
The brief resolution would require the US to end unauthorized military cooperation with Israel within seven days of being passed, which proponents said may also limit the ability of the US military to share intelligence and coordinate targets with Israel.
Tlaib and other progressives like Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) initially pushed for the resolution to be brought to a House vote during the week of May 18, but it was kicked until after lawmakers returned from recess.
In the meantime, several cosponsors have signed onto the resolution, bringing the total up to 17. They include Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Greg Casar (D-Texas) and Rep. André Carson (D-Ind.), who serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Kuwait International Airport says it has resumed Kuwait Airways flights from Terminal 4 after suspending them following Iran’s drone and missile strikes.
The move comes “following the completion of the technical teams and competent authorities’ assessment of the damages and taking the necessary measures to ensure the safety of operational processes”, the official Kuna news agency reported.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry says one person was killed as a result of the drone and missile strikes on a terminal at its international airport.
It expressed “condemnation and denunciation, in the strongest terms, of the brutal and ongoing Iranian attacks using ballistic missiles and drones”, said a statement on X.
The strikes “targeting once again civilian and vital facilities, including Kuwait International Airport, resulted in the death of one individual, injuries to others, and damage to vital facilities, including diplomatic missions”.

US military reports drone attack on forces in Kuwait

The reported attack followed claims by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that it had targeted US military assets in Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for a US strike on Qeshm Island.
Earlier, Centcom said it had conducted a “self-defence” strike against an Iranian ground control station on the island.

US forces fired a missile at a ship that was attempting to sail to an Iranian port in violation of an American blockade, disabling the vessel, the US military said on Tuesday.
The Botswana-flagged M/T Lexie – an unladen oil tanker – „ignored repeated warnings“ over a 24-hour period, and an American warplane „ultimately disabled the vessel by firing a Hellfire missile into the ship‘s engine room“, the US military‘s Central Command said in a statement.

Iran rejects Secretary Rubio’s accusations of Iranian assassination plots
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has rejected claims made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on alleged Iranian plots to assassinate American political leaders, including the president, saying Washington is attempting to deflect attention from what he described as “war crimes” against Iranian civilians.
Posting a video of Rubio’s remarks to X, Esmail Baghaei wrote: “Every accusation is a confession,” adding “playing victim cannot whitewash your harrowing war crimes and crimes against humanity against the nation of Iran”.

‘A service to Israel’: Lebanese president warns against internal division

In a post by the Lebanese presidency on X, Aoun said Lebanon is committed to preserving peace, adding “anyone who fuels [division] provides a service to Israel”.
Aoun highlighted that Lebanon has lost more than 3,000 people during the conflict, with about one million displaced and thousands of homes destroyed.
“There is no horizon for ending this situation,” he said, adding it’s the state’s duty to protect its citizens and “there is no other option but negotiation”.
Security Update: Israeli Airstrikes Intensify Across South Lebanon; Six Killed in Housh Strike

NNA – Israeli enemy warplanes on Wednesday carried out a strike on a previously threatened house in Kharayeb and launched additional raids on Shhour and Kouthariyet El-Riz, including a second strike on the latter.
In a major escalation, Israeli aircraft have so far carried out six airstrikes targeting the vicinity of the Prophet Ezekiel Shrine in the town of Blat.
The Israeli military also issued urgent evacuation warnings to residents of the towns of Jbaa, Houmine El Faouqa and Arki.
Meanwhile, a residential building on the road to Miyeh w Miyeh was evacuated after one of its residents reportedly received a phone call urging occupants to leave the premises.
Separately, Lebanon’s Health Ministry Emergency Operations Center announced that an Israeli strike on the town of Housh in the Tyre district killed six people, including four Syrian nationals and two Palestinians.

Southern Lebanon: Death, injury and significant damage after Israeli airstrike in Sour (Tyre)
MSF condemns the airstrike carried out by the Israeli army on the evening of 1 June in the vicinity of Jabal Amel Hospital, which we support, in Sour (Tyre). According to the Ministry of Public Health, the attack has so far resulted in four deaths and 127 injuries, including 39 hospital staff. Among the injured staff, four are in critical condition and remain under treatment in intensive care. Bodies are still being recovered from the rubble, and the total number of dead and injured could still rise.
The strike caused severe damage to Jabal Amel Hospital itself, including its inpatient department, radiology department and intensive care unit. One wall of an operating room has been severely damaged, leaving a large hole, and the medical team had to urgently transfer half of the remaining patients in the intensive care unit to another ward to ensure their safety.
