Doktor Tod aus Damaskus?
Mittelost-Führer, die der US-Linie folgen und Israel freundlich gesinnt sind, werden von der amerikanischen Regierung und ihren zunehmend gezähmten Medien immer wieder als „Staatsmänner“ oder „Präsident“ bezeichnet. Es gibt den guten alten Präsidenten Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Ägypten, den Militärdiktator, der die einzige Demokratie dieser Nation zerstörte und ihr eine eiserne Herrschaft aufzwang. Aber wir werden von den US-Medien nie von den politischen Morden, den Verschwundenen, den Geheimgefängnissen und den Folterungen in Ägypten hören. Oder dass Ägypten seit der Ära von Anwar Sadat und Nachfolger Hosni Mubarak einer der drakonischsten Polizeistaaten der Welt ist.
Der große Tag
Zwar ist der Dokumentarfilm in den meisten Teilen richtig, aber er enthält doch einige Fehler. Ein Beispiel: Der Film zeigt, wie die Massen in Tel Aviv über die Erklärung jubeln. Das ist eine Fälschung, allerdings wurde sie so oft wiederholt, dass man Drucker verzeihen kann, dass er darauf reingefallen ist.

Pompeo won‘t be endorsed by Senate committee
CIA Director Mike Pompeo has lost his chance of receiving a favorable recommendation from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to become the next secretary of state, ABC News reports, after Democratic Sen. Chris Coons said he would not support Pompeo‘s nomination.
The big picture: Pompeo could still be confirmed by the full Senate. Per ABC, Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp voiced support for him, and if all Republicans besides Rand Paul — who opposed the nomination — vote in his favor, Pompeo „will have just enough votes to be confirmed, including Vice President Mike Pence‘s tie-breaking vote.“

Das wäre doch das mindeste an Aufwand, die Menschen mit kurzen Sätzen zu informieren und nicht allen grassierenden Spekulationen freien Raum zu überlassen, die zum Teil grossen Schaden anrichten.

Mazlan said the lecturer had also served as an imam at a mosque near the condominium where he had lived with his wife and three children.
Mazlan said a recording of a closed-circuit television camera near the scene showed the two assailants waiting for about 20 minutes for the lecturer to emerge from the condominium.
“We believe the lecturer was their target because two other individuals walked by the place earlier unharmed. We will view the recordings of all the CCTV in the area to identify the suspects and get the registration number of the motorcycle,” he said.

(25.7.2014) Der Begriff „Order“ umschreibt im Englischen sowohl „Ordnung“ als auch „Befehl“. D.h., der entsprechende militärische Befehl „I give you an order“ lautet direkt übersetzt „Ich gebe Dir eine Ordnung“. Auch der Begriff „New World Order“ ist dementsprechend unterschiedlich interpretierbar, wenn man wiederum den etwas altbackenen Terminus „Neue Welt“ noch kennt, als Synonym für „Amerika“, mit dem natürlich keinesfalls irgendein Eskimo oder Mapuche gemeint war und ist.
Der Begriff „Neue Weltordnung“ ist also nur eine Übersetzung von „New World Order“. Eine andere wäre „Neuer Weltbefehl“, oder (im übertragenen Sinne) „Befehl Amerikas“.
Den Begriff „Law and Order“ übersetzte übrigens seinerzeit genau der damalige Innenminister von Deutschland falsch, der bis heute als „Law-and-Order“-Minister angesehen wird: Manfred Kanther (Innenminister von 1993-1998). Vor laufender Kamera übersetzte er „Law and Order“ mit „Gesetz und Recht“.
Noch heute fällt es gerade allen Konservativen – oder denjenigen, die sich dafür halten – schwer, ihren alten Gassenhauer „Recht und Gesetz“ wenigstens vom Deutschen ins Deutsche zu übersetzen.

Es gibt zwar auch weniger erfreuliche Zahlen: Die Zahl der Delikte, die von Flüchtlingen begangen werden, steigt zum Beispiel leicht. Aber insgesamt ist der Trend doch erfreulich.
