Beihilfe zum Angriffskrieg

Die Auffassung, dies habe keine Folgen, ist laut Michael Riegner, Professor fĂŒr Öffentliches Recht, Völkerrecht und Rechtsvergleichung an der UniversitĂ€t Erfurt und Direktor der dortigen Global Justice Clinic, nicht haltbar. Es sei unzulĂ€ssig, Artikel 26 Absatz 1 des Grundgesetzes auf die Bundeswehr zu beschrĂ€nken, urteilt Riegner. In dem Paragraph heißt es, „Handlungen, die geeignet sind 
, das friedliche Zusammenleben der Völker zu stören, insbesondere die FĂŒhrung eines Angriffskrieges vorzubereiten“, seien „unter Strafe zu stellen“. Wer die FĂŒhrung eines Angriffskriegs ermögliche, leiste „Beihilfe“, konstatiert Riegner.[11] Es könne kein Zweifel daran bestehen, dass dies auch im Fall der Vorbereitung eines Angriffskrieges durch StreitkrĂ€fte eines Drittstaates gelte, etwa durch die StreitkrĂ€fte der USA.

Trump says Germany helping with Iran strikes in meeting with Merz at White House

US President Donald Trump welcomed German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to the White House on Tuesday, thanking Berlin for granting US forces access to military bases in the expanding war against Iran and drawing a sharp contrast with Britain and Spain.

Wieder deutsche Waffen fĂŒr Israel: Bundesregierung hebt Teil-Exportstopp auf

Nach rund drei Monaten hebt die Bundesregierung die EinschrĂ€nkung von Waffenexporten nach Israel wieder auf. Ab dem 24. November sollen sĂ€mtliche RĂŒstungsexporte nach Israel wieder möglich sein, sagte ein Regierungssprecher am Montag in Berlin. Der wichtigste Grund fĂŒr die Entscheidung sei, dass der am 10. Oktober in Kraft getretene Waffenstillstand in Gaza weiterhin halte.

ICC member states to vote on possible removal of prosecutor Karim Khan

The vote will take place during a special session of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP), the ICC‘s governing body, at UN headquarters in New York.

The 125 member states will decide by secret ballot, with an absolute majority of at least 63 votes required to remove Khan from office.

In May 2024, Khan’s office requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, then-Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas leaders over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity linked to the Gaza war.

The ICC later issued warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant and Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif. The move drew fierce condemnation from Israel and the US, culminating in US sanctions targeting several ICC officials, including Khan.

Khan faces historic removal vote as critics warn ICC process has been politicised

Member states of the International Criminal Court (ICC) are set to gather at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Friday for a controversial vote which could see the court‘s chief prosecutor Karim Khan dismissed from his job over alleged misconduct claims.

It will be the first time in the ICC‘s 24-year history that member states have been asked to decide whether to remove a sitting chief prosecutor from office.

The Assembly of States Parties (ASP), the court’s governing body that is made up of its 125 members, will vote by secret ballot requiring an absolute majority of 63 states to remove the prosecutor.

Khan’s lawyers said they have been denied accreditation to attend Friday’s session and to mount a defence prior to the vote. They added that the president of the ASP “has closed every formal channel” through which they can address the assembly, and has asked all state parties not to meet with the legal team.

Protesters condemned the US war on Iran and said that Rubio is a “war criminal”.

Senate fails to advance latest attempt to limit Trump‘s Iran war powers

The Senate rejected the latest attempt to rein in President Trump‘s war powers in Iran on Thursday, soon after the House adopted a separate measure rebuking the president amid escalations in the conflict in recent days.

In a 47 to 49 vote, one Republican — Susan Collins of Maine — joined Democrats in voting to advance the measure. Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania was the sole Democrat to oppose. Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Rand Paul of Kentucky, who have previously supported similar war powers efforts, did not vote.

Four Palestinians killed, four injured by Israeli forces during attack by colonists near Nablus

Issam al-Saifi, secretary of the Fatah movement in Tell, said colonists attacked two homes in the eastern part of the town, prompting residents to confront them and force them to withdraw.

He said half an hour later, the colonists attacked the western part of the town again, leading to clashes between residents on one side and the colonists and Israeli occupation forces, who stormed the area to provide them protection to the colonists.

He added that Israeli soldiers and colonists opened fire indiscriminately at residents, killing four young Palestinians, including two brothers and their two cousins, and injuring four others. Israeli forces also declared the town a closed military zone, while colonists continued to deploy around the area.

Foreign ministers from eight Arab and Islamic countries condemned Israel’s escalation at Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, including continued incursions by Israeli colonists led by extremist Israeli ministers under the protection of Israeli police, the raising of the Israeli flag inside the compound, and other provocative actions.

The foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, TĂŒrkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar said in a joint statement issued on Friday that these unacceptable escalatory actions constitute a blatant violation of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the historic and legal status quo at the holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem.

Trump’s DOJ says it will withdraw subpoenas targeting NY Times reporters

The Justice Department opened a leak investigation and took aggressive steps to identify the officials who spoke with The Times. Some officials were asked to turn over their cell phones at the White House, sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

Some of the subpoenas — which are court orders compelling a person to testify — were delivered by FBI agents at the reporters’ homes.

The Times publicized the legal threat right away and aggressively fought back, calling the subpoenas a “bad faith effort to harass and intimidate” the news media.

The Justice Department said it was not targeting the reporters; it was pursuing the leakers of classified information.
