“Police’s silencing of Arab-Jewish Hadash front is an alarming phase in the erosion of Israeli democracy,” according today’s (Dec. 10) Haaretz editorial. “The attempt by the Israel Police to prevent a conference by the left-wing Arab and Jewish Hadash front scheduled for next Saturday in Shfaram shows that under the cover of the war, the ‘temporary’ violation of basic rights threatens to become permanent. Israeli Police are trying to prevent a Hadash national convention scheduled for Saturday, December 16, claiming that it would feature ‘inciting speeches that would endanger the public’s well-being.‘”

According Hadash and CPI, “utterly reject the fascist intimidation acts by the Israeli establishment. We insist on raising our voice against the war and against fascism – courageously and responsibly. We will carry out the congress on the scheduled date. Palestinians call for global protest on Monday as death toll nears 18,000
“Palestinians have called for a global strike on 11th December. Stand against the genocide in Gaza,“ urged a tweet from Palestinian Policy Network analyst Dr. Yara Hawari.

22 martyred in Israeli bombardment of Al-Maghazi Camp in Gaza
According to Palestinian news agency (WAFA), 22 civilians, including children and women, were martyred in an Israeli airstrike targeted houses in Al-Maghazi Camp.
Earlier in the day, four Palestinians were martyred and dozens were injured after the Israeli occupation artillery attacked houses in Khan Younis City in southern Gaza Strip.
Prominent Gaza professor and writer killed in airstrike, weeks after telling CNN he and his family had ‘nowhere else to go’
Alareer spoke to CNN from Gaza City, on October 12 and October 13. He gave consent in written messages to share the recording in the event of his death.
Weeks later, on December 7, Alareer was killed by a strike in Shajaiya, in northern Gaza, his friend and colleague, Jehad Abusalim, confirmed to CNN. He was staying with his brother, his sister, and her four children, who were also killed, according to Abusalim, a writer, 35, based in Washington, DC.
He left behind his wife, and children aged 7 to 21. CNN has been unable to reach members of Alareer’s family.
Fighting Rages On Across Gaza as Israel Moves Ahead With Renewed U.S. Support
Heavy fighting raged Sunday across Gaza, including in the devastated north, as Israel pressed ahead with its offensive after the U.S. blocked the latest international push for a cease-fire and rushed more munitions to its close ally.
Israel has faced rising international outrage and calls for a permanent cease-fire after the killing of thousands of Palestinian civilians. About 90% of Gaza‘s 2.3 million people have been displaced within the besieged territory, where U.N. agencies say there is no safe place to flee.
