The president will be guided by the need to form a government in Israel as quickly as possible and to implement the will of the people as expressed in the results of the election, as well as the need to avoid a third general election. 3/4
Likud spokesperson tells me it‘s „unclear“ @netanyahu will make an appearance at the Likud election results event in Tel Aviv, or if he will deliver a speech tonight
Israel Election 2019: Maybe, Just Maybe, the Age of Netanyahu Has Come to an End
The unimaginable may have happened in tonight’s Israeli elections. Based on initial exit polls, the age of Benjamin Netanyahu may have come to an end. If exit polls are to be trusted, Benny Gantz may end up getting first crack at setting up a new government. Israel stood at the edge of a religious-nationalist abyss and, at the very last moment, took a step back.
A positive from #israelelections2019 exit poll is that extreme far right, Arab hating Kahanists (Otzma Yehudit- Jewish Power) are predicted not to have passed the threshold & will not have any seats in Israel’s Knesset. Designated a terrorist group in US
Israel Election Live Updates: Exit Polls Show Tight Race
The last voters were still lining up to cast their ballots at 10 p.m. when the exit polls were reported.
Adding to the uncertainty, Israeli exit polls have been inaccurate and unreliable in the past.
Actual results were expected to trickle in overnight.
Exit Polls Show Benjamin Netanyahu Falling Short In Israel Election | Velshi & Ruhle | MSNBC
NBC News’ Bill Neely reports from Tel Aviv where exit polls are showing Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu is falling short of the majority to maintain his position in the country’s election. Aired on 09/17/19.
On the day of the Israeli elections, this is the one piece you need to read: by my friend @Rami_Hod & Yonatan Levi on how right wing US Jewish donors are turning Israel into their conservative fantasy (& why progressive donors should be just as strategic)

Mendelblit, Don’t Delay
(14.02.2018)
The police announcement Tuesday – that the investigations into two cases involving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been completed – came 13 months after Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit decided that a “preliminary examination” of the allegations, which itself took six months, should become full-fledged criminal investigations.
For Netanyahu, winning reelection could be the only way to avoid corruption charges
The prime minister has branded all three cases a baseless “witch hunt.” and his attorneys accused Mandelblit of interfering with elections by announcing his intention to indict during a campaign season.
Netanyahu accuses the Palestinians of trying to defeat him
Israel Wants Palestine’s Land, but Not Its People
His announcement prompted widespread international condemnation. But for most Palestinians such declarations mean nothing. We’ve heard many statements of support over the years, and nothing ever changes. Cynicism is widespread; by now, many of us would prefer straight talk. As Gideon Levy, a columnist for Haaretz, wrote recently, referring to Mr. Netanyahu’s plan: “Let him turn the reality in this territory into a political reality, without hiding it any longer. The time has come for truth.”
Israel Election 2019: Facebook Removes Fake Accounts Encouraging Arabs Not to Vote
According to a statement by the organization, the accounts are suspected of „actively commenting on pages that encourage voting or to posts discussing the election, in order to undermine Israeli-Arab politicians and their parliamentary work.“
The statement added that such comments were often backed by other suspected fake accounts, and were marked and promoted by Facebook‘s algorithm as „Top Fans.“
Facebook confirmed that it deleted profiles that it found to be undoubtedly fake.
Israel Election 2019: Every Politician Is Now a wanna-Bibi With Netanyahu‘s ‚Losing‘ Strategy
In April, Netanyahu made a surprise visit to the beaches near Tel Aviv, exhorting sunbathers to go home and vote. This time, Yamina’s Ayelet Shaked and Kahol Lavan’s Yair Lapid hit the beaches as soon as they had voted themselves (and Gantz himself went to the beach later).
Netanyahu has made every Israeli politician a wanna-Bibi. One party leader texted Tuesday afternoon: “We are all fighting a digital election, and we don’t know what we’re doing. It’s Netanyahu’s ‘gevalt’ legacy.” Even if Netanyahu loses this election or is forced to resign soon after over his corruption investigations, his gevalt strategy is here to stay.
Yair Netanyahu, Bibi‘s son and an influential adviser to his father, is spreading photos from Turkey to scare Jews about „all-time high turnout“ among Arab citizens. Netanyahu‘s campaign machine will keep pumping out racist lies all day long.

Israel election: Netanyahu sounds alarm over ‘high Arab turnout’ as he battles to cling on to power
„The media is reporting that there‘s a record voter turnout among the Left, and a low voter turnout among right-wing voters,“ he said to a crowd gathered at Jerusalem‘s central bus station,
„[The media] says the percentage of voters is surprising. It‘s high among the Arab population. It‘s not surprising. The Palestinian Authority is coming out with an official statement and I quote, ‚go out to vote and bring down Netanyahu'“.

On Election Day, Russia‘s Putin Says Plans to Visit Israel in January 2020

Earlier today, @netanyahu gave an interview to Galey Yisrael radio, breaching Section 129 of the Israeli Election Law, forbidding candidates from giving radio and TV interviews on Election Day. Then, in a second law violation, he gave an interview to right-wing Kol Hai radio.
Israel Election 2019: Israeli Arab Voter Turnout Up, Activists Say, Citing ‘Wild Intimidation’ Factor
In the April 9 election, only 49 percent of eligible Arab voters in Israel — an all-time low — exercised their civic right (compared with 68 percent nationally). Among Bedouin Arabs, participation dipped even below that, with barely 37 percent voting.
Based on conversations with friends and neighbors in Rahat, Abujafar predicted that overall participation among Israeli Arabs as a whole could be as high as 65 percent come 10 P.M.
UPDATE: As of 4:00 P.M., the voter turnout in Israel was 44.3 percent, 1.5 percent higher than it was in the April election
Live Updates – Israel Election 2019: Voter Turnout Higher Than Last Election; Netanyahu Breaks Law by Giving Interview
1:51 P.M. Netanyahu gives illegal radio interview
Netanyahu gives interview to Galey Yisrael radio station, breaching section 129 of Israeli Election Law. Last week, Central Election Committee head Justice Hanan Melcer issued a clear directive forbidding radio and television interviews with candidates on Election Day.
The Central Election Committee said Netanyahu violated propaganda law on Monday, when he published poll statistics less than three days before Election Day.
Stationen des Niedergangs einer Partei: DIE LINKE nach den Wahlen in Brandenburg und Sachsen
(03.09.2019)

Netanyahu Will Need All His Magic Tricks to Pull Off a Win in Israel‘s Election
A victory that ends with the establishment of a right-wing-ultra-Orthodox coalition will give him the authority – as far as he is concerned – to break Israeli democracy
Right-Wing Settlers behind Ads Calling on Arabs to Boycott Vote
During the campaign before the last general elections in April, billboards went up throughout Arab communities and towns in the Galilee urging voters to boycott the vote. Many residents assumed the ads, which did not identify their sponsors, were an initiative of political forces in the Arab community such the Islamic Movement’s Northern Branch, which traditionally boycotts Israel’s national elections.
However, a Channel 12 news inquiry broadcast on Friday, September 6, revealed that the campaign was very likely commissioned and financed by right-wing Jewish settlers who hoped to significantly decrease Arab turnout at the polls.
In the face of Netanyahu‘s annexation plans, his centrist rivals remain silent
Netanyahu‘s recent announcements, like a pledge to annex parts of the West Bank he made three days before the April 9th elections, have barely registered in the campaign of Blue and White, the centrist party co-led by Generals Benny Gantz, Moshe „Bogie“ Ya‘alon, and Gabi Ashkenazi (all former chiefs of the Israeli Defense Forces) along with former finance minister Yair Lapid
On Election Day, It’s the Prince of Darkness vs. Israel’s Very Soul
Netanyahu’s unbridled and untethered election campaign outlined the shape of things to come if he wins: The slow and agonizing death of Israeli democracy
Israelis return to polls to decide Netanyahu‘s fate
Israelis will vote on Tuesday in the second national election in five months, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to form a governing coalition following weeks of negotiations.
Whatever side you are on, having been outside the presser that never happened, it would have been total pandemonium if it had gone ahead – protesters were shouting and chanting as loudly as they could within metres of the podiums
Fury at Luxembourg PM Xavier Bettel after he ‚stitches up‘ Boris Johnson by holding press conference next to anti-Brexit protesters – and then humiliates him with empty podium when he refuses to take part
– Boris Johnson met EU commission president Jean-Claude Juncker for talks over lunch in Luxembourg
– The Prime Minister was booed as he left restaurant after tense two-hour discussion with the EU chief
– Mr Johnson was again greeted with jeers from ex-pat protesters as he met Luxembourg PM Xavier Bettel
– Mr Bettel refused to move press conference inside and then ranted at Mr Johnson who refused to take part
Luxembourg Rejected Request for an Indoor Press Conference
The Luxembourgians rejected Number 10’s offer and insisted on holding it outside alone with two podiums to a baying Remainer audience. The opposite of diplomacy…
Was heckled Boris Johnson set up for a fall by EU chiefs in Luxembourg?
First, Mr Johnson was invited for talks in a public place, a popular restaurant, with the inevitable result that protesters were waiting outside to heckle him. And then, bizarrely, he was expected to face a press conference not indoors, but outdoors, in a courtyard – mere feet from a large gate, where crowds of protesters could easily gather. And gather they duly did.
