Arrayed against her is a fierce coalition of privacy advocates, American YouTubers, German soccer fans, and tech executives who argue that the proposal would severely impact online privacy. They call it the “chat control” bill and warn that it would open dangerous backdoors into encrypted apps. Because Johansson has made herself the face of this bill, criticism is lobbed at her personally. “Either she’s stupid or she’s evil,” says Jan Jonsson, CEO of Swedish VPN service Mullvad. In February, she was given a dubious “prize” at the Dutch Big Brother Awards, an event organized by digital rights group Bits of Freedom, which identifies heroes and villains in the fight for privacy.

THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS WRITTEN IN ITS OWN CHAT CONTROL BILL

Ylva Johansson is the EU Commissioner in charge of the Chat Control Bill. In recent days she has taken part in several interviews in Swedish media and also spoken in front of EU parliament members.
It’s obvious during the interviews that Ylva Johansson does not understand her own bill and what consequences it would have. She constantly repeats misleading and incorrect arguments. Above all, she continues to claim that it’s possible to scan end-to-end encrypted communication without breaking the encryption. It’s remarkable that the responsible EU Commissioner gets away with this, without tremendous criticism from media and members of the EU Parliament (we know, there are some speaking up, but it’s not enough).

Johansson‘s lie #1: Without adoption of #ChatControl by 2024, police have no means of prosecution.
Not true. Plus #ChatControl does not significantly contribute to protecting children from sexual abuse.

Lie #2: We don’t open new doors for detection.
Truth is: Under the proposed #ChatControl legislation for the first time all providers of messaging, e-mail and chat services could be compelled to deploy error-prone incrimination machines.

Lie #3: Only after a court order may police search our communications.
Wrong again. According to the proposal, any „independent authority“ could order indiscriminate #ChatControl searches of our private correspondence.

Lie #4: Without the #ChatControl law, law enforcement agencies lack 80% of all leads.
There are no source to back up this figure. To the contrary, there would be a massive increase in false suspicions, with severe consequences for those affected.

Johanssons Lüge #1: Ohne schnelle Annahme der #Chatkontrolle bis 2024 habe die Polizei keine Möglichkeiten zur Strafverfolgung mehr.
Eine glatte Lüge. Ohnehin taugt eine #Chatkontrolle nicht zum Kinderschutz.

Die Wahrheit ist: Erstmals könnten sämtliche Messenger-, Mail- und Chatdienste zum Einsatz von Verdächtigungsmaschinen verpflichtet werden.

Lüge #4: Ohne der #Chatkontrolle fehlen Strafverfolgungsbehörden 80% aller Hinweise.
Es gibt keine Quellen, die diese Zahl belegen würden. Umgekehrt würde die Zahl der Falschverdächtigungen massiv ansteigen, was schwerwiegende Folgen für Betroffene hätte.

EU-Pläne zur Chat-Überwachung eingebremst
Diese bedenkliche Entwicklung hin zu einem ebenso idiotischen wie gefährlichen Trend unter Jugendlichen muss der EU-Kommission, die über ausgezeichnete Statistiken verfügt, schon seit Jahren bekannt sein. Bekannt gemacht wurde das nicht, vielmehr wurden die großen Zuwächse an „Kinderpornographie“ im Netz von Kommissarin Ylva Johansson zum Versuch benutzt, Ende-zu-Ende-Verschlüsselung aus dem Netz zu drängen und ein Regime totaler Internetüberwachung wie in China und im Iran einzuführen.
