I was in court the last time Julian Assange appeared outside of prison walls, on 6 January 2021. Tomorrow @RSF_inter will be the first NGO to gain access to him in Belmarsh prison, where heâs become the most well-known political prisoner in the world. Itâs time to #FreeAssange!

Julian Assange‘s wife Stella Moris reveals how they raise children together while he is in jail waiting an extradition decision By Stella Moris
We don‘t know how long our children have left with their father. We don‘t know if we can visit him or even talk to him on the phone. If the extradition goes ahead, US authorities retain the right to put Julian in conditions so cruel that no one in his position is likely to survive.
It is impossible for Julian and me to escape a feeling that he is on death row. Our weekly visits may be the only time we have left together. But for how much longer? A few months more, a few weeks, a few days and then only a few hours? I fear in the end we will count the minutes and the seconds…
US/UK: âDrop the charges, stop the extradition and free Julian Assange,â says Amnesty head
Ahead of an appeal hearing against the decision by a UK court not to extradite Julian Assange to the USA, Amnesty Internationalâs Secretary General has called on US authorities to drop the charges against him and the UK authorities not to extradite him but release him immediately.
The call by AgnĂšs Callamard follows an investigation by Yahoo News revealing that US security services considered kidnapping or killing Julian Assange when he was resident in the Ecuadorian embassy in London. These reports further weaken already unreliable US diplomatic assurances that Assange will not be placed in conditions that could amount to ill-treatment if extradited.
Marking Two Years Since Assange‘s Arrest, Press Freedom Advocates Demand Biden DOJ Drop All Charges
„Today marks two full years that Wikileaks publisher Julian Assange has been incarcerated at Belmarsh prison,“ said Rebecca Vincent, director of international campaigns at Reporters Without Borders. „Shame on the U.S. and U.K. It‘s time to free Assange.“
ASSANGE EXTRADITION: Top UN Anti-Torture Official Urges Assangeâs Release
The United Nationsâ top official on torture Tuesday called for British authorities to release or place under house arrest WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, citing the risk of Covid-19 infection in Londonâs notorious Belmarsh Prison and condemning a decade of âarbitrary deprivation of libertyâ that has âseverely violatedâ the jailed journalistâs human rights.
Part 2 of Lula‘s video on why the attempted extradition and prosecution of Assange is so dangerous, and why the relative silence of western media outlets — including those that partnered with WikiLeaks to publish these documents — is so shameful:
Having investigated this case in my capacity as the #UN #SRTorture, I am absolutely convinced that, if extradited to the USA, #Assange will be exposed to an unfair trial & conditions of detention amounting to #Torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
LIVE UPDATES: ASSANGE HEARING DAY TWELVEâLewis Challenges Diagnosis of Assangeâs Autism

ASSANGE EXTRADITION: Craig Murray: Your Man in the Public Gallery: Assange HearingâDay 11
The only possible conclusion from yesterdayâs testimony is that the performance of the representative of the United States Government was, in and of itself, full and sufficient evidence that there is no possibility that Julian Assange will receive fair consideration and treatment of his mental health issues within the United States system. The US government has just demonstrated that to us, in open court, to perfection.
Kopelman said Assangeâs auditory hallucinations tell him things like âyouâre worthlessâ, âyouâre nothingâ, âyouâre dustâ, âyouâre deadâ, and to kill himself.
The prosecution argued these were self-reported. Kopelman pointed out hallucinations are always self-reported. 13/
Prosecutor James Lewis also attempted to discredit UN Special Rapporteur on Torture @NilsMelzer , dismissing his report after visiting Assange at Belmarsh prison as âpalpable nonsenseâ. Melzerâs report detailed the effects of psychological torture on Assange. 19/
Assangeâs US Extradition Hearing Resumes Monday; Public Needs to Step up to Fight this War on Journalism
Journalists have been left on hold so they could not listen to the teleconference at all, and even when they gained access the proceedings have often been inaudible. At one point, even the lawyers were shut out of the teleconference system. Assange himself has complained of not being able to hear all of the proceedings. Even worse, on several occasions, the prison simply âforgotâ to deliver him to the video call room in time for scheduled hearings.
Julian Assangeâs partner launches crowdfund campaign to fight extradition to US
The WikiLeaks founder has been held at Belmarsh Prison in London for the past 16 months, ahead of his extradition hearing in September.
UK Government blind to common sense over Julian Assange
Andrew Wilkie MP and George Christensen MP, Co-Chairs of the Bring Julian Assange Home Parliamentary Group, are deeply disappointed with the unsatisfactory response from the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice in the Government of the United Kingdom, the Rt Hon Robert Buckland QC MP, which advised that Julian Assange will not be granted compassionate release from prison on the basis that he does not meet the criteria and he also presents as a flight risk.
Beyond Words. Assangeâs COVID-19 Bail Related Application
Yesterday Mark Sommers QC, the extremely erudite and bookish second counsel for Julian Assange in his extradition hearing, trembled with anger in court. Magistrate Vanessa Baraitser had just made a ruling that the names of Julian Assangeâs partner and young children could be published, which she stated was in the interests of âopen justiceâ.
Julian Assange was ‚handcuffed 11 times and stripped naked‘
Julian Assange was handcuffed 11 times, stripped naked twice and had his case files confiscated after the first day of his extradition hearing, according to his lawyers, who complained of interference in his ability to take part.
Their appeal to the judge overseeing the trial at Woolwich crown court in south-east London was also supported by legal counsel for the US government, who said it was essential the WikiLeaks founder be given a fair trial.
âYesterday Mr Assange was handcuffed 11 times, he was stripped naked two times at Belmarsh, and was put in five separate holding cells,“ he said this morning.
A powerful light was shone on Belmarsh prison and the Houses of Parliament last night. Must watch. #DontExtraditeAssange #collateralmurder
A truly inspiring story. Julian is finally released from solitary in Belmarsh because the other prisoners in the prison were appalled by his treatment and took up action on his behalf. A small victory for basic humanity – and it took criminals to teach it to the British state.
Belmarsh Prison Inmates Prove More Ethical Than Entire Western Empire
As it turns out, Assange was in fact rescued from the cruelty of this globe-sprawling empire by the concerted protests of high-security prison inmates.
Assangeâs legal access limited
Assangeâs next hearing is scheduled for 23 January 2020, where he will appear via video link from Belmarsh prison. The extradition proceedings will commence in February.
