Washington — The key contests that will determine who wins control of the Senate are now set for the fall midterm elections, as the 2026 primary season wraps up.
Former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, a Democrat, leads Republican Michael Whatley in the state’s U.S. Senate race, according to a new poll.
Democrats are eyeing a narrow path to reclaiming control of the Senate, where Republicans hold the majority. The North Carolina contest follows Republican Senator Thom Tillis’ decision not to seek reelection, opening up a seat in a state that has leaned Republican in recent federal elections but remains closely divided.
With just more than a week to go before Election Day, the contest continues to hinge on the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina.
Polling between the two candidates in all seven states remains incredibly tight, suggesting the race could be one of the closest in American history.
The Matthew Hoh for Senate campaign and the North Carolina Green Party are facing a massive coordinated attack from the Democratic Party establishment, from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Elias Law Group to the Democratic Party supermajority controlling the NC State Board of Elections.
After the DSCC launched a massive, deceptive, and well-funded voter intimidation campaign attempting to harass petition signers into requesting their names be removed, the State Board of Elections voted to deny certification of our petitions despite the fact that we had over 2,000 verified signatures more than needed – and all 3 Democrats on the board voted to deny us our rightfully-earned ballot line.
This is an outrageous attack on democracy, and we need your help to stand up and fight back.
Here’s how to help:
The Cabarrus County government tweeted Tuesday that the delay in voting at the First Missionary Baptist Church was “due to an issue with the onsite printer.”
NBC News reported that the Plainview Fire Station polling site also had printer issues that delayed the beginning of in-person voting on Election Day, while NBC affiliate WRAL-TV in Raleigh, N.C. reported that the Guilford County issue was due to human-related delays in opening the site.
Get out and VOTE, let’s WIN, WIN, WIN! Next stop, GEORGIA!
In a nod to the importance of winning Pennsylvania in order to secure a second term, Trump will hold four rallies in the Keystone State on Saturday.
The president will then hold five rallies on Sunday, all in states he won in 2016 but where he is now on defense against Biden: Michigan, Iowa, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
Trump will hold five more rallies on Monday on the eve of Election Day. He will stop in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, along with two events in Michigan. His final event will be in Grand Rapids, Mich., the same city where he held his final rally of the 2016 campaign.
Biden returned to his native Pennsylvania for socially distanced drive-in rallies in Bucks County and Luzerne County, two areas crucial to winning the important state, where he hammered Trump for his irresponsible handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, Trump visited North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin, holding large in-person rallies where thousands of people crowded together without masks.

In a new East Carolina University poll released Tuesday, President Trump garners the support of 49 percent of likely voters in the state compared with 47 percent for Biden, a difference that falls within the survey’s margin of error.

As with Israel’s Likud and their leader Netanyahu, but a thousand times over, Trump’s invectives highlight the moral depths to which the Republican party has sunk: It has transformed from a Grand Old Party into a cheerleading squad that prostrates itself before its master, no matter what he says or does. Whether out of fear or hope for favor or both, the Republicans’ feebleness also echoes the conduct of similarly spineless political parties, which facilitated but later succumbed to the most evil tyrants of the 20th Century.
