(November 29, 2008)
The Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai, India, temporarily increased security after being warned of a possible terrorist attack, the chairman of the company that owns the hotel said Saturday.
But Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata said those measures, which were eased shortly before this week‘s terror attacks, could not have prevented gunmen from entering the hotel.
„If I look at what we had … it could not have stopped what took place,“ Tata said in an interview with CNN‘s Fareed Zakaria that will air Sunday.

Inputs travelled back and forth between the Intelligence Bureau, the R&AW, Military Intelligence, Signals Intelligence, the Coast Guard, the Maharashtra State Police and other agencies. As and when found necessary, civilian units like private firms, or hotels were given information.
For example, some time in August, the IB told the Taj Group to be careful about an attack on the hotel. It did not specify that it may come from the sea, but said it could be around September 11, and foreigners could be prime targets, sources said.

Israel Knew Hamas’s Attack Plan More Than a Year Ago
(November 30, 2023)
The document circulated widely among Israeli military and intelligence leaders, but experts determined that an attack of that scale and ambition was beyond Hamas’s capabilities, according to documents and officials. It is unclear whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or other top political leaders saw the document, as well.
(…)
Last year, shortly after the document was obtained, officials in the Israeli military’s Gaza division, which is responsible for defending the border with Gaza, said that Hamas’s intentions were unclear.
“It is not yet possible to determine whether the plan has been fully accepted and how it will be manifested,” read a military assessment reviewed by The Times.

#Shashi Tharoor said there are operations that are successful but we only get to know about the terror attacks that the agencies failed to thwart.
“No country can ever have a foolproof 100 per cent intelligence. We will never know about the various terror attacks that were successfully thwarted.

There was no immediate comment from the American military about the operation, which the British Defense Ministry said early Wednesday was carried out overnight “to degrade Houthi capabilities and prevent further attacks against U.K. and international shipping.”
Typhoon jets using precision guided bombs took part in the mission, the ministry said in a statement. The target was “a cluster of buildings, used by the Houthis to manufacture drones of the type used to attack ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, located some 15 miles south of Sana,” the statement added, referring to the Yemeni capital.
