If aid doesn’t enter Gaza now, 14,000 babies may die. UN peacekeepers must step in

(May 22, 2025)

When the security council fails to act to a threat of peace or security because of veto, the UN charter empowers the UN general assembly to step in through what’s called the “Uniting for Peace” provision. Under this provision, the general assembly can pass a resolution calling for UN peacekeepers to accompany humanitarian convoys and deliver the necessary aid into Gaza, regardless of Israel’s plans and permissions. The UN general assembly must break the illegal blockade and stop the starvation of 2.3 million Palestinians.

Palestinian woman buries husband alone after two months trapped under Israeli siege

When the Israeli army re-invaded Rafah in March and imposed a full siege, all of Aziza’s children fled the area. Ibrahim, however, refused to leave.

“He was blind, unable to move on his own,” Qishta told MEE.

“He told me: ‘I’m not leaving the house, and you’ll stay with me.’”

Her reply was unwavering: “Of course. I won’t leave you after 50 years together. Never.”

For two months, they remained in the house.

(…)

Aziza stayed by his side throughout.

“I laid him down, sat next to him, never leaving his side.”

She noticed his left hand trembling and offered to massage it. “He said: ‘No, leave it.’ Then suddenly, it went limp.” When she looked at his face, he had passed away.

„There were no soldiers around,” she said.

“They come, bomb, and leave.”

Alone, she searched the garden and found a small hole near an olive tree. With no shroud, she used a window curtain to wrap his body and began to roll him into the hole by herself.

“I placed his body in a plastic bag and continued rolling him gently. It took me two hours of exhaustion. But God gave me strength.”

She buried him with her own hands, covering the body first with a zinc sheet, then wood, and finally soil.

(…)

Ibrahim was killed on 10 May but Aziza remained alone in the house for another two weeks, until 24 May, when the last of the food and water ran out.

That day, she began to suspect that the grave might have been bombed. “I heard the buzzing of drones and gunfire.”

The following day, she went to check. “I found the zinc pierced with bullets, and his head exposed.”

Her voice heavy, she recalled: “My heart broke. I picked up his head, it felt as light as a loaf of bread, and returned it to the grave, dug a bit deeper, added a new piece of zinc and wood, and buried him again.”

Gaza death toll rises to over 54,380 as 60 bodies brought to hospitals

The figures do not include hospitals in the north, where access is strained. The ministry added that more victims are believed to be in areas rescuers cannot reach yet.

Exclusive: Hamas offers to release ten captives over sixty days in three stages

The plan would see Hamas release ten living Israeli captives and the remains of 18 others in three phases. For the living captives four on day one, two on day 30, and four on day 60. As for the bodies, six will be returned on day ten, another six on day 30, and the remaining six on day 50.

In return, Israeli forces would begin withdrawing to positions held before 2 March 2025.

(…)

“Witkoff’s only concern is the release of the Israeli captives, but he shows a complete disregard for the continuous killing of thousands Palestinian civilians, majority of whom are women and children, and the suffering of the spread of famine for the two million Palestinians in Gaza“ the Palestinian source noted.

“Hamas felt Witkoff betrayed them twice. The first when Israel broke the US guaranteed deal on 2 March by imposing the embargo on aid and then returning to full blown war on 18 March, with Witkoff’s and the American administration’s full support and cover,“ the source said.

„And the second time, when Hamas released the American-Israeli soldier with an expectation of humanitarian relief and a new approach towards the negotiations, which clearly has not been the case,” they added.

U.S. Says Hamas Response to Gaza Cease-Fire Proposal ‘Only Takes Us Backward’

The White House denounced Hamas’s response on Saturday to a new American cease-fire proposal as totally unacceptable and said it “only takes us backward” after the group sought firmer guarantees that the deal would lead to a permanent end to the war.

Under the U.S. proposal, which was floated by Steve Witkoff, President Trump’s Mideast envoy, Israel and Hamas would halt the fighting in Gaza for at least 60 days, during which some hostages would be freed in exchange for Palestinians jailed by Israel. And there would be further U.S.-backed negotiations on a permanent end to the war.

(…)

A Hamas official outside of Gaza had said earlier on Saturday that the
group was seeking amendments to the Witkoff proposal around the guarantees for ending the war decisively.

Was Netanjahu tatsächlich sagt

(May 1, 2018)

‘Politically motivated and unbalanced:’ Iran slams IAEA report fueled by ‘Israeli fabrications’

Iran underscores its extensive cooperation with the IAEA, including hosting Grossi twice and the Deputy Director General for Safeguards twice in recent months.

Yet, it laments that the report fails to reflect this reality, instead relying on “fabricated documents provided by the Zionist regime” to recycle “baseless and malicious accusations” about past activities.

“Iran has repeatedly stated that it has no undeclared nuclear locations or activities,” the statement asserts, emphasizing that Tehran has granted access to alleged sites, allowed sampling, and provided detailed explanations.

The statement also defends Iran’s sovereign rights, such as revoking designations for a handful of IAEA inspectors—a move it deems “entirely consistent” with the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement.

It points out that the report has misrepresented voluntary JCPOA commitments as binding obligations, a distortion unsupported by the IAEA’s foundational documents.

Reiterating Iran’s immutable position, the statement underscored that nuclear weapons „have no place in Iran’s defense doctrine,“ as enshrined in a fatwa of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
