The painful truth for American Jews is that while they have tended to worship Israeli Jews, their “cousins” have, historically, returned this feeling with a combination of amusement and contempt.

Declaration of Independence
(14TH MAY,1948)
THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
The Ideal of Democracy in a Jewish State Is in Jeopardy
Mr. Netanyahu’s government, however, is a significant threat to the future of Israel — its direction, its security and even the idea of a Jewish homeland. For one, the government’s posture could make it militarily and politically impossible for a two-state solution to ever emerge. Rather than accept this outcome, the Biden administration should do everything it can to express its support for a society governed by equal rights and the rule of law in Israel, as it does in countries all over the world. That would be an act of friendship, consistent with the deep bond between the two nations.
To @POTUS and @TheJusticeDept: Stop the extradition of Assange. I am as indictable as he is on the exact same charges. I will plead „not guilty“ on grounds of your blatantly unconstitutional use of the Espionage Act. Let‘s take this to the Supreme Court.

Ausnahmezustand in Peru: Keine Lösung der Krise in Sicht
Lima. Die Situation in Peru eskaliert nach der Absetzung und Inhaftierung von Präsident Pedro Castillo weiter. Boluarte’s Repression Leaves 18 Peruvians Murdered So Far
Meanwhile, the Army was deployed in the Huamanga, Huanta and La Mar provinces to support the police force in controlling the citizens who are demanding the resignation of Boluarte and the release of Pedro Castillo, who was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The Ombudsman‘s Office demanded that the Joint Command of the Armed Forces order its troops to stop using firearms and launching tear gas canisters from helicopters.
Army should not be used as ‘ultimate backstop’ in strikes, defence chief says
Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the head of Britain’s armed forces, said it would be “slightly perilous” to expect them to be used routinely in the event of strikes by public sector workers.
In an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, Radakin said the use of armed forces to provide cover for striking workers would not impede operations, but suggested personnel should be allowed to get on with their day-to-day jobs.
December strikes: 1,200 troops to cover for ambulances and Border Force
The co-ordinated walkout was called by the three main ambulance unions – Unison, GMB and Unite.
All three are taking action on 21 December. GMB union members will go on strike again on 28 December.
Meanwhile, Royal College of Nursing (RCN) members are due to walk out for a second time on 20 December in parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, following action on 15 December.

Odeh said he began discussing such a renewal with figures in Meretz and Labor immediately after the election and promised that “in the next few months, the level of Jewish-Arab partnership will grow immensely.”

Palestinian Lawyer Salah Hamouri is to be Deported to France on Sunday
(01.12.2022)
Hamouri, a lawyer and a field researcher with the Addameer Prisoners’ Support and Human Rights Association, spent more than eight years in Israeli prisons, starting when he was abducted in 2001 and was sentenced to five months in prison. In 2004 he spent four months under arbitrary Administrative Detention orders without charges, then was abducted again in the year 2005 and was imprisoned for seven years, and then in the year 2017, he was abducted yet another time and spent 13 months under Administrative Detention orders, and upon his release, he received an order barring him from entering the rest of the West Bank for two years.
On June 6, 2022, Salah received another three-month Administrative Detention order just hours before his scheduled release after being imprisoned for three months under a similar order. The decision to revoke his residency was made in October of last year, 2021, after accusing him of “breeching loyalty to the state” for his human rights and legal work in defending Palestinian political prisoners.
Hamouri was born to a Palestinian father from Jerusalem where he grew up and lived, and his mother is a French national. Several years earlier, Israel deported his French wife, Elsa Lefort, to her country after detaining her at the airport in Tel Aviv for three days when she returned to Jerusalem. The lawyer and his wife have two children.
Palestinians born in occupied Jerusalem are only granted “residency status” and not citizenship of Israel despite Israel’s constant claims of “unified Jerusalem as its capital.”
France Condemns Israel’s Deportation of Palestinian Jerusalemite Lawyer to France
France condemned Israel’s decision to deport Palestinian lawyer Salah Hammouri, who holds French citizenship, on Sunday morning by order of Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, following a years-long effort by Israeli authorities to revoke his residency status.
“Today, we condemn the illegal decision of the Israeli authorities to deport Mr. Salah Hammouri to France,” the statement read.
