When Resistance Becomes Capitulation: A Response to an Open Letter in The Nation
This is bizarre behavior on the part of the top Democrat in the Senate and reason enough never to trust the Democrats to be a “lesser evil” restraining force.
“The Democrats could block Kavanaugh’s confirmation by denying the Republicans a quorum in the Senate… Instead the Democrats have knowingly selected an ‘opposition’ strategy that will fail, resulting in the most corporate Supreme Court since the 1930s.”
Tritt Trump 2020 wieder an?
If Progressives Don‘t Win In 2020, It‘s All Over…
Progressives have one last chance to save democracy. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down.
CHRIS HEDGES: “A new and ‘diverse’ group of Democratic Party candidates, over half of whom have been recruited from the military, the CIA, the National Security Council and the State Department, is hoping to rise to political power based on the old con.”
Sanders-backed DNC plan sparks superdelegate revolt
The resisting superdelegates’ odds of success are long. The proposal has the support of DNC Chairman Tom Perez and two former DNC chairs — former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 running mate. And the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee, following months of discussion, voted without dissent on Wednesday to recommend the plan to full DNC. The proposal was backed by many Clinton supporters, as well.
2018 Midterm Elections: This Republican Super PAC Raised $51 Million to Try and Save the Party‘s House Majority
(12.7.2018) The Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), a Republican Super PAC aligned with retiring House Speaker Paul Ryan, said Thursday that it raised a record-breaking $51 million in the second quarter of 2018, and has $71 million cash on hand.
This is more money than the group raised in the entire 2016 election cycle. $30 million of this haul came from mega-donor Sheldon Adelson, as Politico reported in May.
Michael Bloomberg Will Spend $80 Million on the Midterms. His Goal: Flip the House for the Democrats.
(20.6.2018) By siding so emphatically with one party, Mr. Bloomberg has the potential to upend the financial dynamics of the midterm campaign, which have appeared to favor Republicans up to this point. Facing intense opposition to President Trump and conservative policies, Republicans have been counting on a strong economy and heavily funded outside groups to give them a political advantage in key races, especially in affluent suburbs where it is expensive to run television ads.

The first phase of the ad campaign, which is funded by the Koch network‘s Freedom Partners organization, will air on TV and radio starting Monday.
The campaign will call on Congress to support free trade policies and abandon Trump‘s protectionist goals.
Exclusive: Secret money funds more than 40 percent of outside congressional ads
(12.7.2018) Secret donors financed more than four out of every 10 television ads that outside groups broadcast this year to influence November’s high-stakes congressional elections, according to a USA TODAY analysis of Kantar Media data.
Leading the way: organizations affiliated with billionaire industrialist Charles Koch, whose conservative donor network plows hundreds of millions of dollars into politics and policy debates each election cycle.

Are the Russia-gate Fanatics Crazy, Or Just Cynical?
Those howls of outrage you’re hearing are all coming from self-interested parties being cut off from the gravy train – and, as such, all that noise should be music to our ears.
The New Normal: Our Evil Gift to a Generation Which Didn’t Deserve It
And nothing makes a government’s programs – or, more importantly, changes in its core values – more permanent than the loss of collective memory that comes with generational changes.
We’re hitting a big one soon. It worries me.
