The U.S. saw vivid northern lights as far south as Florida — and more could be coming
The Aurora Borealis was spotted in a large swath of states, including Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Washington state. Northern lights were visible as far south as parts of Florida and Alabama, a relatively rare occurrence that highlights the severity of this week‘s storms.
Rare solar storm lights up Northern California skies
A surge in solar activity fueled the vibrant display as the sun reached the peak of its 11-year solar cycle, a period marked by a sharp increase in sunspots and geomagnetic storms.
Around 2019–2020, the sun was at its quietest point; however, with more frequent bursts of solar wind erupting from those sunspots, Earth is now experiencing more substantial and more frequent auroral events.
Nigel Farage denies Gaza genocide and backs weapons exports to Israel
(June 2, 2025)
The Reform UK leader has previously spoken in favour of US president Donald Trump’s plans for the ethnic cleansing of the Gaza Strip, which Israel’s government is looking to move forward.
Writing for GB News last year after Labour suspended around 10% of the UK’s weapon export licences to Israel amid fears the nation was breaching international law, Farage said: “I feel all over the world that Israel is running out of friends. And I wonder right now, is Israel still really an ally of this country?”
Rumors swirl of a plot to oust Keir Starmer as the embattled British leader denies attacking his rivals
Lawmakers are also perplexed by the timing of the briefing. After an unsteady first 16 months in office left Starmer one of the most unpopular British prime ministers on record, Labour MPs had previously signaled that the prime minister would not face a serious leadership contest until after local elections in May 2026, giving his government time to reverse its decline in the polls.
HRF Forces EU Bank to Face Its Complicity in Israeli War Crimes
Brussels- 4 November 2025
On 20 June 2025, the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) filed a formal complaint with the European Investment Bank’s Complaints Mechanism (EIB-CM), urging immediate action to suspend and investigate the EIB’s ongoing financial cooperation with Israeli institutions blacklisted by the United Nations for their involvement in illegal settlements. These investments, amounting to over €1 billion, include support for Bank Leumi, Electra, and other entities named in the UN’s 2020 database for facilitating and profiting from the Israeli settlement enterprise — a core component of the apartheid regime imposed on the Palestinian people.
We are now pleased to announce that this complaint has progressed to the formal assessment phase within the EIB-CM. This development is not merely procedural — it is a political and legal milestone, signaling that a European institution is being forced to reckon with its complicity in grave breaches of international law.
Trump urges Israel to pardon Netanyahu, sparking concerns over US influence
Trump also called for a pardon for Netanyahu during a speech to Israel’s parliament last month, when he made a brief visit to promote his ceasefire plan for the war in Gaza.
In Wednesday’s letter to President Isaac Herzog, Trump called the corruption case “political, unjustified prosecution”.
Death toll from Israeli aggression on Gaza rises to 69,185
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported Wednesday that hospitals in the Strip received the bodies of three martyrs and four others who were wounded by Israeli fire over the past 24 hours.
The ministry noted that since the ceasefire came into effect on October 11, a total of 245 people have been martyred and 627 injured, while 532 bodies have been recovered from the rubble of destroyed buildings in various areas of the Strip
Vice President: Venezuela must be prepared to defend its sovereignty
During the formation of the Bolivarian Base Committee in the Caracas parish of La Pastora, he declared that „those who want to hand over Venezuela, its natural resources, and fascist extremism are encountering the unyielding fist of the organized people. They will not succeed against us.“
Rodríguez emphasized that the US has decided to declare war on the entire planet, „and Venezuela must be prepared to defend our sovereignty. Who is going to come and give us orders from another country? Nobody, nobody gives us orders. The only one is the Venezuelan people, who are well organized.“
Venezuela raises military readiness as U.S. Carrier Group nears Caribbean
As the USS Gerald R. Ford streams into the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) area of responsibility, bringing with it 4000 US sailors and dozens of tactical aircraft, Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro ordered its military operations be amped up within the coming hours to confront “imperial threats.”
A release from Venezuelan Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez earlier today announced that a higher phase of “Independencia 200” operations- the country’s national defence and mobilisation framework- will be in effect from 4.p.m. until tomorrow.
Colombia suspends intelligence sharing with US over strikes on Caribbean boats
President Gustavo Petro ordered Colombia’s intelligence agencies to stop sharing information on drug trafficking with their United States counterparts until US President Donald Trump stops ordering strikes on boats in the Caribbean.
Petro announced the order on Twitter after US television network CNN reported that the United Kingdom suspended intelligence sharing over the strikes that have killed at least 67 people since early September.

T&T distances itself again
On Sunday, Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC)-European Union summit participants signed a joint declaration in Santa Marta, Colombia, which contains an article citing the “situation in the Caribbean and Pacific” and calling for dialogue and cooperation. Although present, T&T distanced itself from that specific point.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has previously welcomed the US presence, promising the US unflinching access to the country’s territory in the event of a Venezuelan attack on neighbouring Guyana.
Latin America-EU Summit: States reject the ‘use of force’ amid tensions with the United States
“We reiterate our opposition to the use or threat of the use of force and to any action that is not in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter,” states the text signed on Sunday by 58 of the 60 nations present, with Venezuela and Nicaragua abstaining.
“We addressed the importance of maritime security and regional stability in the Caribbean,” adds the document, without directly mentioning the American bombings against ships suspected by Washington of transporting drugs, which have already resulted in 70 deaths.
