IN PICS: hundreds arrested at Palestine protest outside Labour conference

Hundreds of people have been arrested as the Defend our Juries group protested against the government’s ‘proscription‘ (terrorism ban) on anti-genocide group Palestine Action. While al-Qaeda subsidiary HTS in Syria has been de-proscribed and whitewashed by the UK and US, Palestine Action remains banned. The Crown Prosecution Service and judiciary continue to collude to try to ensure the longest and harshest possible sentences.

More than 3,000 people, mostly pensioners and disabled people, have been arrested for ‘terror’ offences for opposing the proscription. That total is climbing rapidly.

Friendship with US is closest of any two nations, Streeting says amid Fairford investigation

Streeting begins by addressing the terror probe related to an incident at RAF Fairford yesterday.

He says he can‘t provide much further detail than that already reported – but talks up the strength of the UK-US alliance.

„Our friendship with America is the closest alliance of any two nations on Earth, and we will always stand together against those who hate our freedom and those who wish us harm,“ he says.

„What we saw yesterday from our security services, our armed forces and our police was just a small glimpse of the extraordinary work they do everyday.“

Starmer latest: Streeting accused of orchestrating No 10 coup as embattled PM vows to fight on

Wes Streeting has been accused of orchestrating a coup against Sir Keir Starmer after claims emerged he talked to Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar two days before Mr Sarwar called on the prime minister to resign.

Sources said the pair are thought to have discussed the current political situation in the Labour party, with many blaming the health secretary for Mr Sarwar’s intervention, according to the Telegraph.

Wes Streeting privately said Israel committing war crimes, backed sanctions on ‚rogue state‘

Streeting added that he had „never been a shrinking violent (violet) on Israel. He said he had supported the pro-Israel lobbying group, Labour Friends of Israel, „for over 20 years“.

Mandelson responded that „I am worried that such a gesture now could blow a [two-state solution] out of the water“.

Streeting said that „Israel is doing it anyway“, and added: „This is rogue state behaviour. Let them pay the price as pariahs with sanctions applied to the state, not just a few ministers.“

Streeting shares his Mandelson texts with Sky News

The health secretary said he was sharing the messages with Sky News because of an attempt to „smear“ him over the weekend by suggestions he was „close friends“ with Lord Mandelson.

Mr Streeting has long been seen as on leadership manoeuvres and may otherwise be thought to be a potential beneficiary if Sir Keir were to resign as prime minister.
