Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Beirut on Friday, the most senior international official to visit Lebanon since Nasrallah‘s killing. He arrived at Beirut’s airport, where overnight an Israeli strike landed nearby.
Mr Araghchi is confirmed to meet Prime Minister Najib Mikati and speaker of parliament Nabih Berri.
Lebanon said an Israeli strike on Friday cut off the main international road to Syria, after Israel said Hezbollah was transporting weapons through the tiny Mediterranean country‘s principal land border crossing.
The strike, which Israel has not commented on, comes after 310,000 people, mostly Syrians, have in recent days fled the war pitting Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon for relative safety in neighbouring Syria.
According to AFP, the recent Israeli strikes were conducted near Lebanon’s Masnaa border crossing with Syria. Lebanon Transport Minister Ali Hamieh said that the Israeli authority struck the Lebanese side of the border, cutting off a road used by Lebanese fleeing to Syria.

Around 1,000 protesters took to the streets of Tel Aviv Tuesday night in an anti-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rally, blocking Ayalon Highway north, Hebrew media reported.
Large forces of Israel Police arrived to disperse the crowd and reopen the highway, in what erupted into clashes between authorities and the demonstrators.
Dozens of buses arrived in Aleppo province from Damascus, Homs, Hama, Lattakia and Tartous governorates as a number of buses also left Aleppo through the western entrance of Aleppo, al-Nasr roundabout and the beginning of Aleppo-Damascus highway, according to SANA.
“The indigenous movement is mobilizing indefinitely in the whole country,” Jaime Vargas, president of the CONAIE umbrella indigenous group, told Reuters.
As it could be seen through images broadcasted live, army personnel on Saturday morning tried to occupy farmer facilities in Nizag, an indigenous community located in Sibambe.
Given the impossibility of evicting hundreds of Chimborazo demonstrators, the Ecuadorean troops remained wandering among the people concentrated there. No incidents were reported.
