Kim agrees to additional denuclearization steps in summit with Moon
Kim said he and Moon agreed to remove all nuclear weapons and threats from the Korean Peninsula.
„The September declaration will open a higher level for the improvement in relations (between the South and the North) … and bring closer the era of peace and prosperity,“ Kim said of his agreement signed with Moon after their two-day talks in Pyongyang.
The joint declaration, later released by Seoul’s presidential office Cheong Wa Dae, showed the North’s agreement on denuclearization steps.

Continuing our pre-summit special coverage… We are D-minus-four until the highly-anticipated ‚2018 Inter-Korean Summit Pyeongyang‘ between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Our Blue House correspondent Hwang Hojun takes a look at the agenda of the summit and what we can expect out of the historic meeting.
South Korea’s special delegation delivers President Moon’s personal letter to Kim Jong-un
Hojun, so we hear that the envoys met with the North Korean leader?
That’s right, Daniel. Their encounter was confirmed when the Blue House press corps received a text message from Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Kim Eui-kyeom less than two hours ago, in which he said South Korea’s special delegation did, in fact, meet with Kim Jong-un to deliver President Moon Jae-in’s personal letter,… and that they exchanged opinions. The Blue House also confirmed that the special envoys will leave Pyongyang after they attend a dinner; but it’s still unclear who the host is.
Koreas agree to hold summit in Pyongyang in September
„We agreed to hold an inter-Korean summit within September in Pyongyang“ the two Koreas said in a joint press statement issued after the meeting.
North Korea’s chief delegate, Ri Son-gwon, hinted after the meeting that the two sides agreed on a date but decided not to announce it, only to emphasize that the summit will take place „within September.“
North, South Koreas hold 68th anniversary of Korean War in détente mood
The ceremonies were often accompanied in Pyongyang by rallies, anti-US media coverage and other reminders of the war. This year, however, explicit anti-US messages disappeared from the media as well as the streets of the city on Monday. Kim Jong Un invites Donald Trump to second summit in North Korea in July: Report
According to South Korean daily Joongang Ilbo, citing a source in Singapore, Mr Kim has invited Mr Trump to North Korea to hold a second summit in July.
The invitation was in a letter written by Mr Kim to Mr Trump and hand delivered by Mr Kim’s right-hand man, General Kim Yong Chol, to the White House on June 1.

Main part of S. Korean art troupe to leave for N. Korea
The majority of the South Korean art troupe and taekwondo performers scheduled to give performances in Pyongyang ahead of a historic inter-Korean summit will head to North Korea on Saturday.
The 120-member group led by Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Do Jong-whan will depart Seoul’s Gimpo International Airport at 10:30 a.m. aboard a chartered civilian flight. They will travel via a direct air route between Seoul and Pyongyang over the Yellow Sea.
