Joint List chairman says he could recommend Gantz as PM
Parliamentarian Aymen Odeh told Army Radio Wednesday morning he would consider supporting Netanyahu‘s chief political rival as official results trickling in continued to solidify a strong showing for the coalition of Arab parties.
Head of Arab faction mulls backing Gantz to form next coalition
The chairman of the Joint List of Arab parties, Ayman Odeh, said Wednesday that he may recommend Blue and White leader Benny Gantz as the next prime minister when he meets with President Reuven Rivlin.
Gantz has already reached out to him, Odeh said, adding that “on Wednesday afternoon, we will decide which path to take.”
Israel Election Results: Netanyahu Suffered Defeat Despite the Center-left’s Abysmal Campaign Flop
It could have ended far worse. If Netanyahu had won a few more Knesset seats, he would have secured immunity from prosecution, set up the most extreme government in Israeli history and finished his demolition derby of the country’s democracy. A rare convergence of favorable circumstances – chiefly the uptick in Arab voter participation, the failure of Kahanist Otzma Yehudit and the indifference of Likud voters – combined to spare Israel from a disaster that would have changed the country forever.

Netanyahu to issue press statement after meeting of right-wing factions
While not enough to form a coalition on its own, Channel 12 reports Netanyahu is hoping that Rivlin will consider the 55-seat bloc as a single party and therefore agree to task the premier with forming the next government for having a bigger faction than the standalone Blue and White party.
First publication: ‚Right-wing bloc‘ led by Netanyahu established
It was decided to form a joint coalition negotiations team for all factions in the bloc.
In addition to Netanyahu, the meeting saw the participation of Minister Yariv Levin and faction heads: Yaakov Litzman, Moshe Gafni, Naftali Bennett, Rabbi Rafi Peretz, Ayelet Shaked, and Bezalel Smotrich.
Israel’s two main parties locked in dead heat as negotiations begin for new government
As of Wednesday morning, Gantz had already reached out to Ayman Odeh, leader of the Joint List, the conglomeration of four Arab parties that scored remarkably well in Tuesday’s election, securing 12 seats.
Next phase in Israel is government formation. President Rivlin decides who gets the right to try. Gantz only has mandate to form a government without Bibi. Lieberman and Odeh (Arab Joint List) will likely recommend Gantz because they both want Bibi gone.
Israel Election Results: Rivlin Not Expected to Meet With Netanyahu, Gantz Before Talks With Party Leaders
If the Central Elections Committee finishes counting all the votes by Wednesday afternoon, the president may ask panel chairman Justice Hanan Melcer to allow him to summon party representatives on Sunday. He acted in a similar manner after the April election earlier this year as well as in the 2015 ballot. Such consultations usually last two days, and when they conclude the president has to decide whether to give the mandate to form a government to a Knesset member who has agreed to take up the task.
Netanyahu’s Likud One Seat Behind Gantz’s Blue and White Party
According to the official results released by Israel’s Central Elections Committee after counting 90% of the votes, Blue and White managed to win 32 seats while Likud obtained 31 seats, but both of them appear to lack the support of the majority of elected parliament members necessary to secure their leader the prime minister’s seat.

Israeli election: lengthy coalition talks loom as early results point to deadlock
At 9am local time, the official tally said 42% of votes had been counted, with Likud on 28%, and Blue and White on 27%.
However, Israeli news outlets, citing sources within the country’s elections committee, reported that around 90% of votes had been counted and showed a dead heat with the two main parties at 32 seats in the Knesset each.
Investigations involving Benjamin Netanyahu: Case 3000
Three Dolphin-class submarines and four Sa‘ar 6-class corvette were purchased from the German company ThyssenKrupp by Israel. The suspicion in this case refers to swaying the deal in ThyssenKrup‘s favor for the personal gain of several of the people involved. Netanyahu is not a suspect in Case 3000, though his cousin and personal lawyer David Shimron, who also represented the German company in Israel, is one of the main suspects.
Report: Mandelblit Won’t Reopen Case 3000 Investigation
(29.03.2019)
Blue and White party candidates have in recent days sent many messages to Mandelblit demanding that the case be reopened and that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s role in the affair be re-examined.
Mandelblit wrapped up his investigation in Case 3000 months ago, concluding that Netanyahu was not involved in influence peddling in the sale of submarines by the German company ThyssenKrupp to Israel.

After Tight Israeli Election, Netanyahu’s Tenure Appears Perilous
Looking visibly deflated and sipping frequently from a glass of water, Mr. Netanyahu told a small but loud crowd in Tel Aviv that he would wait for the actual results, but planned to enter negotiations to establish “a strong Zionist government and prevent a dangerous anti-Zionist government.”

Israel Election 2019: In Defeat, Netanyahu Looks to Iran and Trump for Salvation
“We stood together steadfast in the election campaign and we will stand together, united, in the missions that face us.”
That is Netanyahu. In victory, he stands alone. In defeat, united.
He of course couldn’t have failed to notice that there were only about 300 diehard supporters still left cheering for him in a hall that can hold over a thousand and that not all Likud ministers had arrived.
