Barcelona, Spain – The Global Sumud Flotilla is launching from Barcelona, with international activists, artists and human rights advocates taking part in a symbolic journey to challenge Israel’s blockade of Gaza.
Speakers at the event include Greta Thunberg, Saif Abukeshek, Thiago Ávila, and actors Liam Cunningham and Eduard Fernández. The flotilla, named after the Arabic word sumud (steadfastness), sets sail as part of a broader call for solidarity with Palestinians under siege.

The global fleet of boats departed from Spain’s Barcelona on Sunday for Gaza as part of an international maritime initiative aimed at delivering humanitarian aid to starving people in Gaza.
In support, thousands of people turned up to show solidarity with Gaza and support the members who will embark on this journey.
The first convoy, consisting of dozens of small civilian vessels carrying activists, humanitarians, doctors, seafarers, and humanitarian supplies, is scheduled to depart from Spanish ports on August 31 to meet up in Tunisia with a second wave on September 4.

COVID-19 carriers may have been misclassified as influenza diagnoses in primary care, boosting community transmission before public health measures were taken(11).

Es bestehe die Möglichkeit, dass viele COVID-19-Infektionen weltweit zunächst als Grippe diagnostiziert und behandelt worden seien, so die Wissenschaftler weiter.
EU will Abwasser untersuchen lassen
Sinkevicius verwies zudem darauf, dass die Analyse von Abwasser „ein bewährtes Konzept bei der öffentlichen Gesundheitsüberwachung ist“. Hintergrund: Beispielsweise nutzen mehrere europäische Metropolen wie Barcelona Stichproben von Abwassern, um Erkenntnisse über die Menge und die Art des Drogenkonsums zu gewinnen.

It all started today at around 6.30 p.m. with a demonstration that gathered about 1,000 people, according to the local police, against the evictions that have been carried out in recent days coinciding with the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
The march was organized as a result of evictions this Wednesday of a family from Casa Buenos Aires, in the Vallvidrera neighbourhood of Barcelona, and of a family in Nou Barris this Thursday.
