Al Jazeera reporter Hani Mahmoud said the bodies found in the Nasser grave included children, young men, and older women. Rescues said that some of the bodies they found had been buried with their hands tied behind their backs, according to Middle East Eye.
„Our teams continue their search and retrieval operations for the remaining martyrs in the coming days as there are still a significant number of them,“ Palestinian emergency services said in a statement shared with Al Jazeera.
As the search continued, rescuers estimated there to be at least 400 bodies.
The Gaza government media office said some of bodies found had been decapitated, and had their skin and organs removed.
According to Al Jazeera, the bodies of children, elderly women and young men were among those found.
Israeli forces have stormed the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, saying that the raid was conducted because the military had information Hamas fighters were hiding Israeli hostages in the facility, although it did not provide evidence for the claim.
The storming comes following a siege of the hospital through this week, with The New Arab‘s Arabic service Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reporting that a Palestinian was killed and 14 others were injured during Israeli shelling of the orthopaedic department at the hospital this morning.

The #IDF has advanced into southern Gaza, taking up positions on the central road into Khan Yunis. The coast road remains passable for the time being.
#Israel has also resumed attacks in the North, in the vicinity of Jabalia.
Late Sunday night, a military spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, said Israel “continues and expands its ground operations against Hamas strongholds all across the Gaza Strip,” but did not elaborate.
Military officials declined to comment on whether Admiral Hagari’s comments meant an Israeli ground invasion of the south had begun.
Day 58 of Israel‘s war on Gaza – Israel continues to brutally bombard all parts of the Gaza Strip, but with particular emphasis on Khan Younis and the south of the enclave, which Tel Aviv had previously designated a ‚safe zone‘.
