1. South and North Korea will reconnect the blood relations of the people and bring forward the future of co-prosperity and unification led by Koreans by facilitating comprehensive and groundbreaking advancement in inter-Korean relations. Improving and cultivating inter-Korean relations is the prevalent desire of the whole nation and the urgent calling of the times that cannot be held back any further.
(1) South and North Korea affirmed the principle of determining the destiny of the Korean nation on their own accord and agreed to bring forth the watershed moment for the improvement of inter-Korean relations by fully implementing all existing agreements and declarations adopted between the two sides thus far.

Inter-Korean exchanges will resume in all sectors
The leaders of the two Koreas have agreed to set up a joint contact office in the North‘s city of Gaeseong to promote communication and exchanges to continue the recently established peace momentum, according to a joint declaration announced after the third inter-Korean summit held Friday.
Establishing a joint contact office is part of a comprehensive agreement reached at the historic summit between President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il at the truce village of Panmunjeom.

Koreas agree to jointly participate in int‘l sports competitions
According to the statement, the two Koreas agreed to compete together in international sporting competitions, including the 2018 Asian Games, scheduled for Aug. 18-Sept. 2 in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. Die Teilstaaten einigten sich außerdem auf die Durchführung von Militärgesprächen auf Generalsebene im Mai, um anstehende militärische Fragen unverzüglich klären zu können.
Moon und Kim wollen sich weiter über die direkte Telefonleitung über wichtige Angelegenheiten des Volkes austauschen und sich um die konstante Entwicklung der innerkoreanischen Beziehungen bemühen.
Für die enge Kooperation und Belebung des Austauschs auf privater Ebene sowie enge Kooperation zwischen den Regierungen soll im nordkoreanischen Kaesong ein gemeinsames innerkoreanisches Verbindungsbüro eingerichtet werden, das mit ständigen Mitarbeitern beider Seiten besetzt werde.
Darüber hinaus werden anlässlich des Tags der Befreiung von der japanischen Kolonialherrschaft am 15. August Zusammenführungen von im Koreakrieg getrennten Familien stattfinden.
