Turkey-backed Syrian forces entered the northern Syrian city of Manbij after taking control of most of the surrounding area from US-allied Kurdish forces there, a Turkish security source said on Sunday.
Turkish source claims Syrian rebels close to defeating Kurdish forces in north
Turkey-backed Syrian forces have taken control of some 80% of northern Syria’s Manbij area and are close to victory against Kurdish forces there, a Turkish security source claims.

Russia patrolling between Turkish and Syrian forces after U.S. troops withdraw
A Russian Defense Ministry statement said that military police in northwestern Manbij were patrolling “along the line of contact between the Syrian Arab Republic and Turkey.” The statement said the Russian military was also “interacting” with Turkey’s government.

A video has surfaced this week of a group of U.S. Army personnel coming face-to-face with the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) 1st Armored Division outside the city of Manbij.
According to reports, the U.S. military went up to the 1st Division and requested that the they remove their flag from the area.
According to an SAA source, a patrol of U.S. forces reached a positions of the SAA 1st Division around Manbij and asked them to remove the Syrian flag, the officer in charge of the position refused and the tension almost lead to an armed engagement.
