Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa are all vying to become the 111th mayor of New York, the economic and cultural capital of the country.

And Mikie Sherrill and Jack Ciattarelli are running against each other to become New Jersey‘s governor in a contentious race that has gained considerable national attention.

New Jersey is one of only two gubernatorial races across the country, and since it comes one year after a presidential election and one year before the midterm elections, it is often seen as an indicator how both the White House and Congress are doing.
