Iran says it targeted U.S. base in retaliation for latest strikes

„Following this morning‘s aggression by the invading U.S. military against a location on the outskirts of Bandar Abbas Airport using aerial projectiles, the American air base that served as the source of the attack was targeted,“ the Guard said, according to IRIB.

It did not provide details of the location of the base, though Kuwait, a U.S. ally, said it was responding to missile and drone attacks on Thursday morning.

Iran condemns US attack, expresses solidarity with Oman

Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has condemned the US attack on areas near Iran’s Bandar Abbas, and expressed solidarity with Oman after “US officials’ threats” in a statement delivered on Thursday.

This follows US President Donald Trump’s threats to “blow up” Oman if it joins Iran in imposing fees on the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. carries out new strikes against Iranian military site, official says

The U.S. military carried out another round of strikes on Iran, a U.S. official confirmed to CBS News on Wednesday, another challenge to a shaky ceasefire between the two countries.

The strikes came just two days after U.S. Central Command confirmed an earlier round of „self-defense strikes“ on southern Iran, hitting missile launch sites and Iranian boats that allegedly sought to lay mines.

U.S. Carries Out Renewed Strikes in Southern Iran

A senior U.S. military official said Iranian surface-to-air missiles threatened some of the nearly two dozen U.S. Navy warships — including two aircraft carriers and their escort vessels — in the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea enforcing a blockade against vessels trying to enter or leave Iranian ports. The official added that the U.S. strikes hit near Bandar Abbas, a major port and Iranian navy base.

American and Iranian forces have had other skirmishes since a cease-fire took effect about six weeks ago.

Iranian officials have not denied the US reports that Iranian missile launchers and boats were attacked. However, they have neither confirmed the reports nor given details of the incident.

According to US claims, the targeted boats were trying to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz and, as a result, were engaged.

In the coming hours, we’re expecting Iranian officials to release a statement on what happened.
