Illinois files a lawsuit to block Trump deploying the National Guard, joining Oregon
Oregon and Portland went back to the court — this time with California as an additional party to the lawsuit — and asked U.S. District Judge Karin J. Immergut for a new temporary restraining order blocking the Trump administration from sending the California National Guard to Oregon.
In her ruling, Immergut barred any National Guard members from being relocated from any state for service in Oregon. One day earlier, she had temporarily blocked the Trump administration from federalizing the Oregon National Guard.
Northwestern University students join wave of nationwide campus protests for Palestine
EVANSTON, Ill. (CN) — Students and staff at Northwestern University launched a campus protest in solidarity with Palestine on Thursday, joining a nationwide student movement that began last week at New York City‘s Columbia University.
As at Columbia and numerous other universities, the Northwestern protestors opposed the United States‘ ongoing material and political support of Israel despite mounting accusations that Israeli forces in Gaza have committed war crimes.

During a heated debate last month, Pritzker cast his GOP opponent as a radical extremist who was “out of touch” with the priorities of Illinoisans.
He noted that Bailey was endorsed by former President Trump and called him a danger to democracy.

Nursing homes now account for half of all Illinois coronavirus deaths; protesters gather at Pritzker’s house
The group, many in wheelchairs, brought a coffin — which police seized. Officers warned demonstrators to disperse, and they did, about an hour after arriving. As they left, they chanted “we will be back.”
Chicago ADAPT urged Pritzker to declare an emergency at long-term care facilities and use the National Guard to move residents to hotels and other locations where better social distancing is possible.
