President Donald Trump declared Sunday that homeless people in Washington, D.C., must leave the capital „immediately,“ promising they would be relocated „far from the Capital“ as part of a broader effort to make the city „safer and more beautiful.“
Because Washington is a federal district rather than a state, it falls under the constitutional authority of Congress rather than a governor, meaning any presidential attempt to take over the city would raise serious constitutional, legal, and political concerns.
There has been talk that former talk show host and current magazine and book publisher Oprah Winfrey might be of interest. Winfrey, though, would have to take more than a year away from her many lucrative enterprises if she did this.
“Nothing right now suggests they were related to China’s spy balloon program or that they were surveillance vehicles from any other country,” Biden said. “The intelligence community’s current assessment is that these three objects were most likely balloons tied to private companies, recreation or research institutions studying weather or conducting other scientific research.”
Biden also said there was no evidence of a sudden increase in the number of aerial objects, saying the United States was finding more of them because of radar adjustments.
