Kherson remains part of Russia – Kremlin
The withdrawal of Russian forces from Kherson doesn‘t effect the legal status of the region, Moscow insisted on Friday, as it was officially incorporated into Russia last month after a public referendum.
Speaking to journalists, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that “Kherson Region remains part of the Russian Federation, and this status is legally fixed and defined, and there can be no changes to this status.”

Kherson, occupied by Russian troops, is returning under the control of the Ukrainian army, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.
„Kherson is returning to the control of Ukraine, parts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are entering the city. The escape routes of the Russian occupiers are under the fire control of the Ukrainian army.
Russia has reportedly begun to consolidate power in areas of Ukraine under its control, shaking up the leadership of the Luhansk People‘s Republic and trying to push a referendum in Kherson.

Human rights commissioner Lyudmila Denisova said Russian forces were distributing propaganda material telling people in occupied Kherson that Moscow was acting for their benefit.
She said leaflets handed out “blame the Ukrainians themselves and their chosen government” for the aggression against their country, echoing the Kremlin’s messaging about the invasion.
