Nikki Haley was Trump’s Iran whisperer
Haley wasn’t alone. The fingerprints of former U.N. ambassador John Bolton, whose access to Trump was recently limited by chief of staff John Kelly, were also on Trump’s Friday address in the form of a warning that Trump, who opted not to push for steps that could undo the nuclear agreement, could still cancel the deal “at any time.
The line was added to Trump’s speech after Bolton, despite Kelly’s recent edict, reached the president by phone on Thursday afternoon from Las Vegas, where Bolton was visiting with Republican megadonor Sheldon Adelson.

Trump on N. Korea: My attitude is the one that matters
„I think I have a little bit different attitude on North Korea than other people might have,“ he told reporters at the start of talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the White House. „And I listen to everybody, but ultimately my attitude is the one that matters, isn‘t it? That‘s the way it works. That‘s the way the system is.“
Trump says he spoke to US Virgin Islands‘ ‚president‘ — which is him
Trump appeared to be referring to Virgin Islands Gov. Kenneth Mapp, instead of the „President“ who is Trump himself. The Virgin Islands is a US territory.
The White House did not immediately respond to CNN‘s request for comment. But in the official White House transcript after the speech, his reference to Mapp as President was corrected to „governor.“

Tesla fires hundreds after company-wide performance reviews – Company says it will replace most workers
Workers estimated between 400 and 700 employees have been fired. Tesla refused to say how many employees were let go, although the company expects employee turnover to be similar to last year’s attrition.(…)
This week’s dismissals have not been reported to the state Employment Development Department, a spokeswoman said. The state generally requires companies to report layoffs of more than 50 employees in a 30-day period.

He said the attackers, who used a tool called China Chopper, could have been state sponsored or a criminal gang.
Italy passes decree against hostile foreign takeovers
The new rules on takeovers signals protectionist sentiment is on the rise in Italy after years of relatively open approach to foreign acquisitions which French companies, in particular, have taken advantage of.
The decree also extends the government’s ability to block takeovers by non-EU companies to high-technology sectors.
The new rules will not affect Vivendi’s investments in Italian groups as they cannot be applied retroactively.

Effektiv bedeutet Trumps Rede erstmal Folgendes:
Fact-checking President Trump’s speech on the Iran deal
Trump often suggests the United States gave a $100 billion to Iran, but these were Iranian assets that had been frozen.
Trump Disavows Nuclear Deal, but Doesn’t Scrap It
President Trump announced on Friday his decision to disavow the Iran nuclear agreement, threatening to leave the deal altogether if it was not amended to permanently block Tehran from building nuclear weapons or intercontinental missiles.
But even as he delivered a fire-breathing indictment of the Iranian government’s activities around the Middle East, he stopped short of unraveling the agreement reached by President Barack Obama two years ago.
Israeli Minister Says Trump Speech May Start War With Iran
Israel‘s Channel 2 TV asked Intelligence Minister Israel Katz whether he saw a risk of war after Trump‘s speech.
„Absolutely, yes. I think that the speech was very significant,“ Katz responded. „Iran is the new North Korea. We see where things are goings.“

Trump‘s defense chief: ‚I stand by this Iran strategy‘
“I give advice to the president. He was elected by the American people and I stand by this Iran strategy as it came out today,” Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon.
Democrats fear Trump will spark war with Iran, North Korea
The worry that Trump‘s Iran policy could heighten the crisis with North Korea is shared even by Democrats who opposed the nuclear deal. Some fear that U.S. criticism of the nuclear deal, despite Iran‘s technical compliance with the terms of the agreement, will diminish the potential to negotiate an agreement with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
„Our allies and adversaries alike will see this as a signal that the United States doesn‘t live up to our commitments, making the United States a source of uncertainty instead of a force for solving serious problems,“ New York Rep. Eliot Engel, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said Friday. „I have to ask: what major power will trust our word on potential North Korean nuclear negotiations, given how Trump is undermining the agreement with Iran?“
Trump‘s goals for decertifying Iran deal remain a mystery
President Donald Trump‘s speech on the Iran deal and Tehran‘s activities in the region reflects a tough-minded approach with objectives that are at best unclear and likely unrealistic.
He appears to want Congress to pass new deal-breaking terms that Iran will never accept, leverage the Europeans into joining, and force Iran through sanctioning the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and ratcheting up the pressure to accept a new accord. None of this is likely to happen.
The science of spying: how the CIA secretly recruits academics
In order to tempt nuclear scientists from countries such as Iran or North Korea to defect, US spy agencies routinely send agents to academic conferences – or even host their own fake ones.
CIA Director Mike Pompeo: Iran a ‘Despotic Theocracy’ Like the Islamic State
Most of Pompeo’s remarks concerned the mission of the Central Intelligence Agency and its importance in a world of terrorism and nation-state skulduggery. Pompeo acknowledged that many people have a sinister impression of the CIA, in part because they do not (and cannot) know exactly what the agency does on a daily basis.
He teased a few classified missions that would surely blow the minds of his audience if he could divulge the details, including one carried out by a very young CIA officer that “would be rejected as implausible by any worthy publisher,” were it submitted as an espionage novel.
Trump To Values Voters: In America ‚We Don‘t Worship Government, We Worship God‘
„We know that it‘s the family and the church — not government officials — who know best how to create strong and loving communities,“ Trump said.
He got a standing ovation when he talked of appointing Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Trump noted he signed a religious liberty order on the National Day of Prayer that eased enforcement of the Johnson Amendment, which regulated political activity of churches.

The Day Israel Attacked America
(30.10.2014) In 1967, at the height of the Arab-Israeli Six-Day War, the Israeli Air Force launched an unprovoked attack on the USS Liberty, a US Navy spy ship that was monitoring the conflict from the safety of international waters in the Mediterranean.
Israeli jet fighters hit the vessel with rockets, cannon fire and napalm, before three Israeli torpedo boats moved in to launch a second more devastating attack. Though she did not sink, the Liberty was badly damaged. Thirty-four US servicemen and civilian analysts were killed, another 171 were wounded.
Later Israel apologised for what it claimed to be a tragic case of mistaken identity.
