Nachdem die «Rundschau» von SRF darüber berichtet hatte, war die Reaktion von André Blattmann laut «Zentralschweiz am Sonntag» darauf folgende: «Ich freue mich, wenn man den Missetäter, den Verräter findet, und ich freue mich, wenn wir diesen im übertragenen Sinne auf die Schlachtbank führen können.» Dies vor über 150 Generalstabsoffizieren. Der «widerliche Kerl» hätte die «Zukunft unserer Armee und unserer Doktrin» in Frage gestellt.

Die USA haben für Abhören das juristische Konzept der „reasonable expectation of privacy“. Wenn man an Orten redet, wo man keine Privatsphäre erwarten darf (also außerhalb der eigenen Wohnung), dann darf da auch wild abgehört werden. Das betrifft auch Fälle wie sagen wir einen öffentlichen Platz, auf dem man allein ist, weil nirgendwo sonst eine Menschenseele zu sehen ist. Wer da Selbstgespräche führt, hat keine reasonable expectation of privacy.
