A helicopter of the U.S. Army has made a `hard deck landing´ during a training mission about 20 miles east of Okinawa, Japan´s southern island, injuring seven people.
According to U.S. military in Japan, the UH-60 crashed on the USNS Red Cloud on Wednesday (August 12) at about 1.45 p.m. local time.

The accident occurred at 09.38 a.m. (0738 GMT) near Engelmannsreuth in the north of Bavaria state, a spokesman for the 52nd Fighter Wing at Spangdahlem Air Base near Trier said. The pilot safely ejected and jettisoned fuel tanks over an unpopulated area, he added. The F-16 was carrying six 25-pound (11 kg) trainee munitions; no live munitions were on board. Regional police said the pilot was found by a passerby in the woods and was getting treatment for light injuries. The crash, whose cause was under investigation, occurred during a training flight out of the U.S. Army Garrison in Grafenwoehr, Bavaria.

Cobb County police said the threat to the lives of soldiers was a hoax. Brett Downing, 23, of Cumming, filed the alleged report of a terroristic threat against American soldiers on July 21, 2015. Two weeks later he admitted he made it up.

The first journalist from an American Jewish pro-Israel publication to be given an Iranian visa since 1979 reported Wednesday that he had found little evidence to suggest that Iran wanted to destroy Israel, as widely asserted by critics of the Iranian nuclear agreement.
The journalist, Larry Cohler-Esses, assistant managing editor for news at The Forward, an influential New York-based newspaper catering to American Jews, also wrote that people in Iran, including its Jews, were eager for outside interaction and willing to speak critically about their government.

About a thousand of the refugees are trapped inside a playground within the stadium complex, with no access to water or shade. A further 1,500 are housed in a separate section of the stadium, with some protection from the sun.
The migrants were originally locked inside on Tuesday night ostensibly to be registered. But, according to MSF, just three police officers were there to carry out the registration, slowing the process down and exacerbating tensions.
At one point the police used a sonic explosion to maintain order, and the MSF team withdrew for safety reasons. “It was becoming a bit uncontrollable, the situation, and there was a complete lack of coordination. It was just the police there, no UNHCR [the UN’s refugee agency], and no security for [our] team,” said Julia Kourafa, a spokeswoman for MSF at the stadium.

Der Präsident des BfV, Dr. Maaßen hat die Strafanzeigen in Abstimmung mit dem Bundesministerium des Innern gestellt.” Und weiter: “Die Mitglieder der Bundesregierung waren im Vorfeld von der Anzeige des BfV nicht informiert.“

3 Years in Embassy
19 June 2015 marks three years since Julian Assange, an Australian citizen, entered the embassy of Ecuador in London. He was granted political asylum under the 1951 Refugee Convention due the ongoing espionage case against him in the United States. Mr. Assange risks extradition to the US from both the UK and Sweden.
Mr. Assange has been detained—without charge—in prison, under house arrest and in the embassy for nearly five years. He has not seen the sun in three years as the embassy has no outdoor area. His rights have been severely abused, as have the rights of his young family. Fifty nine legal and civil rights organizations have complained to the United Nations about his treatment in the last year alone. The UN will shortly issue a finding as to whether Mr. Assange’s situation formally amounts to „arbitrary detention“—which is unlawful under any circumstances. A number of criminal cases have been filed in Europe (including in Denmark, Germany and Sweden) in response to illicit state action against him by the US government and its allies including the use of unlawful surveillance and the payment of cash bribes to illegally obtain evidence.
Both the UK and Sweden refuse to provide legal or diplomatic assurances not to extradite Mr. Assange to the US (in violation of their obligations under the Refugee Convention), despite repeated requests by Ecuador and NGOs, including Amnesty International.

The people of Okinawa are furious. They have not forgotten about the kidnapping, rape and murder of a 13 year old girl in 1995 by three US soldiers. This has also triggered a strong opposition campaign against the Futenma Air Station, “the most dangerous air station in the world”, located in the middle of a populated residential area including a university campus.
Eventually, the Japanese and US governments agreed to relocate the Futenma Air Station. Yet their latest decision again outraged the people of Okinawa, since it plans to build a new military base in Okinawa, ignoring the people’s will to decrease the heavy military presence.
