Every day in the US, 16 people die from a heroin overdose. It’s an addiction epidemic that is no longer confined to the shadows of urban cities, but is knocking on the door of idyllic, New England townhouses – in the Green Mountain state, the number of heroin-related deaths nearly doubled in the last year alone.

Journalists Against The Coup: Military Junta Creates Exclusionary Fascist Media
In a statement, the Journalists Against The Coup (JAC) movement said: „Media and press freedom in Egypt made a powerful and unprecedented leap… backwards, plunging Egypt deep in the darkness of brutal repression and tightly-controlled media.
„This of course is the exact opposite of the freedom the people of Egypt and the January 25 Revolution demand. New ‚controls‘ are imposed on all media workers under flimsy claims, as evident in the regime media henchmen‘s recent dubious meeting at Al-Wafd newspaper, and the kind of fascist exclusionary media they announced, effectively killing press and media freedom.“

Abbas to Israel: Make peace with us and 57 other nations will follow
„I say to the people of Israel: If you make peace with us, we will come, as will 57 other Arab and Muslim countries that would immediately begin to recognize Israel and normalize relations.“
He responded to increasing violence in Jerusalem the past week as well as calls from Hamas encouraging a third, violent intifada.
„We do not want an intifada. We are not calling for an intifada,“ Abbas said. „I told the people ‚These are our holy places and we want to keep them quiet.'“
No proof of Israel involvement in Arafat‘s death: Abbas

Google: the security state’s playful arm
If you’re familiar with Hollywood dystopian sci-fi movies, you’ll know that at their heart they typically have an obviously evil mega-corporation that is developing technology to do obviously evil things – like creating a Robocop or a bug-like killer drone. In real life, we have Google.
FDA Is Angry That ICANN Won‘t Just Censor Websites On Its Say So
here‘s the thing. Everyone in the articles (including the reporters) seem to take it as perfectly reasonable that ICANN and/or these registrars should have just taken down these sites. No one points out that BizCN seemed to respond properly by asking for a court order. ICANN isn‘t in the business of censorship.

Germany Turning Sour on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership
“My Commission will not accept that the jurisdiction of courts in the EU Member States be limited by special regimes for investor-to-state disputes. The rule of law and the principle of equality before the law must also apply in this context… There will be nothing that limits for the parties the access to national courts or that will allow secret courts to have the final say in disputes between investors and States.” (…)
