Dieser gibt nach der Ermordung seines Sohnes durch die Polizei Videoaufnahmen des Mordes an die Medien weiter, da die Polizei-Behörden unter Polizeichef Mike Sellers, der von den Mitgliedern des Stadtrates gedeckt wird, den Fall niederschlagen und kein einziger Zeuge des Mordes Anzeige erstattet. Unterstützung erhält Vater Ron Thomas nur durch die regionale Seite “Friends of Fullerton´s Future”.
Schließlich wird das Bild des ermordeten Kelly Thomas bei seiner Einlieferung in das örtliche Krankenhaus bekannt. Dann auch die Videoaufnahmen mit den geschockten Zeugen in einem Bus, unmittelbar nach der Tat.
