Stonehenge was built on solstice axis, dig confirms

English Heritage says it has discovered a „missing piece in the jigsaw“ in our understanding of Stonehenge, England‘s greatest prehistoric site. Excavations along the ancient processional route to the monument have confirmed the theory that it was built along an ice age landform that happened to be on the solstice axis, according to Professor Mike Parker Pearson, a leading expert on Stonehenge.

The (farcical) emperor is naked

It‘s as if Dick Cheney had never left the building; paperboy Barack is Dick Cheney with a “human“ face. The only good outcome in this multi-sorrowful tale is that the real “international community“, all around the world, has seen the naked Emperor in all its (farcical) glory.

Defending the Whales and Dolphins around the Faroe Islands

On the edge of North-West Europe there are also regular drive hunts of whales and dolphins just as needless but arguably more barbaric and even more merciless in our very own ‘Taiji of the North’ – The Faroe Islands.

Museum Identifies New Van Gogh Painting in Amsterdam

The date of the painting has been identified as July 4, 1888. In a letter van Gogh wrote to his brother the next day, he seemed to have described the scene: “Yesterday, at sunset, I was on a stony heath where very small, twisted oaks grow, in the background a ruin on the hill, and wheat fields in the valley. It was romantic, it couldn’t be more so, à la Monticello, the sun was pouring its very yellow rays over the bushes and the ground, absolutely a shower of gold. And all the lines were beautiful; the whole scene had charming nobility.”

Some U.S. Military Officers Not Happy With Syrian War Prep

At the Pentagon, they call it “shaping the battlefield.” It’s shorthand for taking steps, military and otherwise, before launching an attack. In the long drumbeat of war prior to a possible attack on Syria for its alleged use of chemical weapons last month, the Obama Administration — starting with the President himself — has fumbled this critical prewar phase.
