The bill’s sponsor, MK Ariel Kallner (Likud), made sure the bill would apply only to contributions from a “state entity” – a body friendly to Israel whose budget is open and transparent – and not to donations from private organizations and individuals, for whom the bill doesn’t even require transparency. The reason for this is that states constitute a significant funding source for organizations that promote liberal ideology, whereas organizations that promote the opposite ideology, like the Kohelet Policy Forum, the Ir David Foundation (Elad) and Ateret Cohanim are funded by anonymous private donors.
