(25.Januar) Similar to Uber’s “God View” scandal, Lyft staffers have been abusing customer insight software to view the personal contact info and ride history of the startup’s passengers. One source that formerly worked with Lyft tells TechCrunch that widespread access to the company’s backend let staffers “see pretty much everything including feedback, and yes, pick up and drop off coordinates.”

(12.12.2016) All signs point to leaking, not hacking. If hacking were involved, the National Security Agency would know it – and know both sender and recipient.

In short, since leaking requires physically removing data – on a thumb drive, for example – the only way such data can be copied and removed, with no electronic trace of what has left the server, is via a physical storage device.

Anwälte sollen die aktuelle Version der beA-Client-Security deinstallieren oder mindestens deaktivieren und aus dem Autostart entfernen.

If the Dutch witnessed the DNC intrusion in 2015 and reported it to U.S. colleagues, it‘s difficult to understand why the Russian hackers were left to forage in the DNC network for months without being ejected. After all, Cozy Bear‘s attacks on the State Department and the White House were actively fought as soon as they became apparent. Allowed to root around the DNC unopposed, Cozy Bear could have harvested much of the material released during the 2016 campaign to embarrass Hillary Clinton and her key supporters within the party. One would expect U.S. intelligence to try to prevent that kind of thing.

Sie kann allerdings genau dazu benutzt werden was sie bei Menschen normalerweise hervorruft.

Hackers from the Dutch intelligence service AIVD have provided the FBI with crucial information about Russian interference with the American elections. For years, AIVD had access to the infamous Russian hacker group Cozy Bear. That‘s what de Volkskrant and Nieuwsuur have uncovered in their investigation.

(26.1.2018) Mit anderen Worten (und das habt ihr hoffentlich selber auch gemerkt): Eine „anonyme Quelle“ aus einem Geheimdienst sagt etwas Unbewiesenes, das diesen Geheimdienst gut aussehen lässt. Viel Glaubwürdiger geht es ja gar nicht mehr!

(19.5.2015) Die niederländische Regierung wird den Vorwurf prüfen, dass der BND für den US-Geheimdienst NSA Datenkabel aus den Niederlanden angezapft hat. Innenminister Roland Plasterk sicherte dies am Dienstag dem Parlament in Den Haag zu, wie die niederländische Nachrichtenagentur ANP berichtete.

Plasterk beauftragte den niederländischen Geheimdienst AIVD mit der Untersuchung.

(3.Juli 2014) My translation of the announcement (in Dutch) of the launch (I translated as literally as possible):

With the launch of the Joint Sigint Cyber Unit (JSCU), the General Intelligence & Security Service (AIVD) and the Military Intelligence & Security Service (MIVD) take an important step in better protecting the national security and our digital networks against threats, and at the same time better support our soldiers on missions. A successful cooperation requires proper arrangements. These arrangements are laid out in a covenant [.pdf, in Dutch] that is signed by the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Defense.

(3.7.2014) The joint unit is specialized in Signals Intelligence (Sigint) and Cyber. Sigint includes information collection from (tele)communications. Cyber is a collective term for various activities related to computer networks and data streams. Think of mapping the internet landscape in a (new) mission area, informing partners about a dangerous computer virus or hacking a terrorist website that threatens national security.

The government is committed to further cooperation between the AIVD and the MIVD.

(1.November 2013) However, in a country-by-country survey of its European partners, GCHQ officials expressed admiration for the technical capabilities of German intelligence to do the same thing. The survey in 2008, when Tempora was being tested, said the Federal Intelligence Service (BND), had „huge technological potential and good access to the heart of the internet – they are already seeing some bearers running at 40Gbps and 100Gbps“. GCHQ also maintains strong relations with the two main Dutch intelligence agencies, the external MIVD and the internal security service, the AIVD.
