Judicial Watch seeking documents ‘unlawfully removed’ by Comey

Conservative watchdog Judicial Watch is calling on Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe to recover and release federal records and memos it claims were “unlawfully” removed by former Director James Comey, threatening the FBI with a lawsuit should the bureau not comply.

Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, penned a letter to McCabe on June 14 warning of a potential violation of the Federal Records Act, which is the basis for the federal government’s policies regarding the “creating, maintaining, and disposing” of federal records.

‘Brazil’s Temer running ‘criminal organization,’

Joesley Batista, chairman of JBS, caused a major political uproar last month when he handed to authorities an audio recording in which Temer appeared to condone the payment of hush money to a former lawmaker now in prison.

“It’s the country’s largest and most dangerous criminal organization. And the president is its leader,” Batista said in an in-depth interview with the Epoca weekly published Saturday.

“Those who aren’t in prison today are in the Planalto presidential palace. They are very dangerous people. I didn’t have the courage to confront them.”

A BOSNIA OPTION FOR IRAQ

(1.1.2007) The key — and the most challenging part of an ethnic relocation policy — is to get the parties to informally accept it. (…)

Obtaining agreement in Iraq will require not only rapprochement among some key Sunni and Shi‘a leaders, but a constructive role by the Kurds, who are already ensconced in relative security in their own territory. Kurds see the oil – rich, multi – ethnic town of Kirkuk as both the capital of their longed – for state and a symbol of their oppression at the hands of Saddam Hussein (who engineered mass Sunni migration to Kirkuk while expelling Kurds). Thousands of Kurds have already returned to Kirkuk, heightening tensions. The upsurge in sectarian warfare has emboldened the Kurds and their backers to advance a partition/independence agenda. U.S. pressure on the Kurds (whose territory has been used as a base for Kurdish separatists in Turkey) could encourage them to cut a deal on Kirkuk’s oil while earning greater Sunni cooperation on property swaps in the town.

Iraq VP accuses Qatar of having tried to split his country

Allawi is a secular Shi‘ite politician who has some support within Iraq‘s Sunni community. His position as vice president is largely ceremonial and his views do not reflect those of the government in Baghdad, headed by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

Abadi has refused to take sides officially in the Gulf Arab rift but criticized the sanctions imposed on Qatar, saying they hurt the population, not the Qatari government.

Russia Stumbles Forth In Quest To Ban VPNs, Private Messenger Apps

Like countless similar efforts across numerous countries, this is all framed as an utterly necessary step to thwart piracy, combat extremism and ensure the safety and security of the Russian people. But as with comparable proposals in the States and elsewhere, these proposals undermine encryption and essential security and privacy tools, making the general public notably less secure. They‘re also an expensive game of Whack-a-Mole as users looking for privacy simply flee to services like Tor or Zeronet, ensuring these services will be the demonized bogeymen of tomorrow.

FOIA documents show the Kafkaesque state of US mass surveillance

„The company’s challenge appears to have been tied to an ‚expansion‘ of Section 702 surveillance, though the details of that expanded surveillance remain redacted in the opinion. Despite the company’s arguments that the surveillance was unlawful, the court ultimately ordered the provider to comply with the directives.“

As Kafka said, „It is an extremely painful thing to be ruled by laws that one does not know.“

Was immer Du kannst, beginne es. Kühnheit trägt Genius, Macht und Magie. Beginne jetzt.

Zehn Jahre Die Linke: Harmonie statt Sozialismus
