If the bill passes, more than 1 million hectares of protected rainforest will be opened up. Four recently created conservation areas will lose 40% of their combined size, down from 2.8m ha at present to 1.8m ha, and one will disappear altogether.

WordPress Silently Fixed Privilege Escalation Vulnerability in 4.72 Update
A WordPress core maintainer said the company delayed disclosing the vulnerability, technically an unauthenticated privilege escalation vulnerability that existed in a REST API endpoint, to “ensure the safety of millions of additional WordPress sites.”
WordPress introduced REST API endpoints by default to the CMS when it pushed version 4.7 in early December 2016 to allow access to WordPress posts, comments, terms, and other settings

Leyen) Terrorlage herbei phantasiert:
Focus on Global Politics
One of the reasons for this option is the continued resistance to the establishment of EU military structures, insisted upon by Berlin. Several EU countries are reluctant to have a „Military Planning and Conduct Capabilities“ unit established in Brussels, which would be responsible for EU training missions and could eventually be upgraded to become an EU headquarters.[4] Increased application of „coalitions of the willing“ would help break such resistance. „We need a European headquarters for civilian and military operations,“ declared Elmar Brok yesterday.

The Turkish Army in Syria Is All Dressed Up With Nowhere to Go
In other words, Russia helped set up a Syrian-controlled buffer zone. And this means Ankara and its proxies — if they advance east to Manbij along the M4 highway — will have to first break through Syrian army lines, risking a direct clash with Damascus.
Veranstaltungsverbot? Gaggenau? Riesenalarm?

Sessions breaks with intelligence agencies, says he doesn’t know if Russia wanted Trump to win
Attorney General Jeff Sessions told Fox News that he did not know whether Russian President Vladimir Putin and his government favored Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton during the presidential campaign.
That assessment differs from U.S. intelligence agencies, which released a report just in January declaring that “Putin and the Russian government aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton and publicly contrasting her unfavorably to him.”
FBI once planned to pay former British spy who authored controversial Trump dossier
The former British spy who authored a controversial dossier on behalf of Donald Trump’s political opponents alleging ties between Trump and Russia reached an agreement with the FBI a few weeks before the election for the bureau to pay him to continue his work, according to several people familiar with the arrangement.
The agreement to compensate former MI6 agent Christopher Steele came as U.S. intelligence agencies reached a consensus that the Russians had interfered in the presidential election by orchestrating hacks of Democratic Party email accounts.
McCaskill’s Russian Flub
Sen. Claire McCaskill called on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign for failing to disclose during his Senate confirmation hearing that as a senator he met twice with the Russian ambassador in 2016. As a point of contrast, McCaskill said, she had “no call from, or meeting with, the Russian ambassador. Ever.” As a point of fact, that turned out to be false.
What The CIA and FBI Knew About Trump Before 2016
Today everyone is talking about the inexplicable news about Jeff Sessions. But there‘s another dimension of the Trump/Russia story which has only become clear to me recently but which provides a critical backstory for understanding the background of this scandal and news story.
Let‘s go back to the story of Felix Sater, the Russian-American immigrant, convicted felon and longtime Trump business associate we discussed last week.
Trump business associate led double life as FBI informant — and more, he says
Working from a 24th-floor office in Manhattan’s Trump Tower, Felix Sater spent years trying to line up lucrative deals in the United States, Russia and elsewhere in Europe with Donald Trump’s real estate organization.
For much of that time, according to court records and U.S. officials, Sater also worked as a confidential informant for the FBI, and — he says — U.S. intelligence.
