Turkey’s totally failed Middle East policy
A sensible foreign policy would have been to reduce Turkey’s dependence on Russia, which supplies no less than 54 percent of its natural gas, and to diversify its export markets given that the political problems between the two countries had the potential to boil over.

U.S. MILITARY TAUGHT OFFICERS: USE ‘HIROSHIMA’ TACTICS FOR ‘TOTAL WAR’ ON ISLAM
(10.5.2012) The U.S. military taught its future leaders that a “total war” against the world’s 1.4 billion Muslims would be necessary to protect America from Islamic terrorists, according to documents obtained by Danger Room. Among the options considered for that conflict: using the lessons of “Hiroshima” to wipe out whole cities at once, targeting the “civilian population wherever necessary.”
The course, first reported by Danger Room last month and held at the Defense Department’s Joint Forces Staff College, has since been canceled by the Pentagon brass. It’s only now, however, that the details of the class have come to light. Danger Room received hundreds of pages of course material and reference documents from a source familiar with the contents of the class.
NEW EVIDENCE OF ANTI-ISLAM BIAS UNDERSCORES DEEP CHALLENGES FOR FBI’S REFORM PLEDGE
(23.9.2011) FOLLOWING MONTHS OF denials, the FBI is now promising a “comprehensive review of all training and reference materials” after Danger Room revealed a series of Bureau presentations that tarred average Muslims as “radical” and “violent.”
But untangling the Islamophobic thread woven into the FBI’s counterterrorism training culture won’t be easy. In addition to inflammatory seminars which likened Islam to the Death Star and Mohammed to a “cult leader,” Danger Room has obtained more material showing just how wide the anti-Islam meme has spread throughout the Bureau.
FBI Teaches Agents: ‘Mainstream’ Muslims Are ‘Violent, Radical’
(14.9.2011) The FBI is teaching its counterterrorism agents that “main stream” [sic] American Muslims are likely to be terrorist sympathizers; that the Prophet Mohammed was a “cult leader”; and that the Islamic practice of giving charity is no more than a “funding mechanism for combat.”
At the Bureau’s training ground in Quantico, Virginia, agents are shown a chart contending that the more “devout” a Muslim, the more likely he is to be “violent.” Those destructive tendencies cannot be reversed, an FBI instructional presentation adds: “Any war against non-believers is justified” under Muslim law; a “moderating process cannot happen if the Koran continues to be regarded as the unalterable word of Allah.”
Global homocapitalism
In this article I ask why leading institutions of global capitalism have begun to take activist stances against homophobia, and why they have done so now. I want to understand the terms on which the figure of the queer has come to be adopted as an object of concern for the development industry. Rather than pretending to offer a ‘balanced’ assessment of what is being called the ‘business case’ for LGBT rights, I am interested in thinking through how a radical queer anti-capitalist politics might relate to this emerging discourse.
Donald Trump: Muslim ban no different to Roosevelt internment camps
Donald Trump has rejected criticism that his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the US is un-American as critics compared him to Adolf Hitler.
The Republican presidential candidate said what he is proposing is „no different“ to the actions of president Franklin Roosevelt, „who was highly respected by all“ despite his wartime measures that included putting Japanese-Americans in internment camps in the US.
CAIR spox Ibrahim Hooper on Trump: „Where is there left for him to go? Are we talking internment camps? Are we talking the final solution?“

Trump calls for ‘total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States’
„Oh, my goodness,“ said Ibrahim Hooper, national communications director at the Council on American-Islamic Relations. „One has to wonder what Donald Trump will say next as he ramps up his anti-Muslim bigotry. Where is there left for him to go? Are we talking internment camps? Are we talking the final solution to the Muslim question? I feel like I‘m back in the 1930s.“
Osborne wrong: Britain’s bombing of Syria will cost hundreds of millions
The bombing didn’t produce the results the government hoped for, so mission creep ensued. We know that operations in Libya cost up to £1.5 billion. I think we can expect similar mission creep in Syria, which will inevitably raise the costs involved.”(…)
It should be noted that the share prices of major international arms traders jumped in the wake of the British parliament’s decision to extend its aerial bombing campaign against Islamic State.
O’Reilly: No Evidence ‘Muslims Are Being Mistreated in the USA’
In a day marked heavily by strong anti-Muslim sentiment from Donald Trump, Bill O’Reilly said tonight, “There really isn’t any evidence that Muslims are being mistreated in the USA.”
