New Files Confirm the JFK Investigation Was Controlled by the CIAâ Not ‚Botched‘ as Some Pretended
At least 40 bystanders (including 21 police officers) said gunfire came from in front of the motorcade, as well as behind. A bystander‘s home movie footage lent credence to the notion, but was suppressed by the government.
In custody, Oswald denied responsibility. „I didnât shoot anybody,“ he told reporters. Within hours he was killed in police custody by a stripclub owner with organized crime connections.
These shocking and baffling events traumatized the country, and the world, like no other single event, at least until the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Working Hard for the Working Class: Der SPD-Chatbot im Selbstversuch

Stephen Bannon Out at the White House After Turbulent Run
Earlier on Friday, the president had told senior aides that he had decided to remove Mr. Bannon, according to two administration officials briefed on the discussion. But a person close to Mr. Bannon insisted that the parting of ways was his idea, and that he had submitted his resignation to the president on Aug. 7, to be announced at the start of this week. But the move was delayed after the racial unrest in Charlottesville, Va.
US Close to Long-term Commitment to Afghan War, Top US General Says
(17.8.2017) The top U.S. general says the Trump administration is very close to a long-term policy commitment to Afghanistan that will address a call by General John Nicholson, commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, for more international troops to end the stalemate between Afghan forces and the Taliban.
Inside Erik Princeâs secret proposal to outsource the war in Afghanistan
Prince has described the proposal in interviews this week as a plan to send 5,500 private military contractors to embed with Afghan National Security Forces units at the battalion level to fight the Taliban, supported by a 90-plane private air force. Prince presents the plan as an alternative for President Trump to the proposal put forth by his top commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Nicholson, who has publicly called for a âfew thousandâ more U.S. troops to be added to the approximately 8,200 U.S. soldiers there now.

Is Donald Trump Losing Control of the Military?
He has given the U.S. military the authority to set its own troop levels in Afghanistan and the Pentagon the flexibility to set troop levels in Iraq and Syria, although he has reportedly tired of this position of late, blaming his secretary of defense for âlosingâ in Afghanistan.
Trumpâs Search for an Afghan War Policy Takes Him to Camp David
In a tweet Friday morning, Trump made no mention of Afghanistan as the meetingâs prime topic, saying: âHeading to Camp David for major meeting on National Security, the Border and the Military (which we are rapidly building to strongest ever).â
Syrian army encircles Islamic State in central Syria advance
Uqairabat is 37 km (23 miles) east of the town of al-Salamiya, near the only road through government territory to Aleppo, a route that has sometimes been closed because of fighting. Driving Islamic State militants out of that pocket would reduce pressure on the road.
‚Smart‘ Lock Vendor Locks Hundreds Out Of Their Home With Bungled Firmware Update
So we‘ve talked repeatedly about how the real „smart“ choice in the era of „smart“ internet of things devices is often — dumber technology. Whether it‘s your smart refrigerator or TV leaking your gmail details or viewing data over unencrypted connections, your smart car opening the door to potentially fatal attack, or your smart doorbell creating new attack vectors into your WiFi network, more often than not you‘re quite frankly better off with the older, less sophisticated versions of these technologies if you want the smart path toward a more secure life.
The latest case in point: smart door lock vendor Lockstate managed to completely disable the smart door locks of an estimated 500 customers after a botched firmware update left customers unable to access their own properties:

On Eve of Trial, Psychologists Agree to Historic Settlement in ACLU Case on Behalf of Three Torture Victims
âThis is a historic victory for our clients and the rule of law,â said ACLU attorney Dror Ladin. âThis outcome shows that there are consequences for torture and that survivors can and will hold those responsible for torture accountable. It is a clear warning for anyone who thinks they can torture with impunity.â
The full terms of the settlement agreement are confidential.
CIA ‚torture psychologists‘ avoid trial with secret settlement
The secret settlement in the suit, brought on behalf of two living ex-detainees and one who died of hypothermia after brutal questioning in US custody, avoided what would have been the first public trial of the Central Intelligence Agency‘s use of torture on suspected al-Qaeda members.
The American Civil Liberties Union brought the suit in 2015 against psychologists James Mitchell and Bruce Jessen, who were recruited by the CIA in 2002 to design and help conduct interrogations of War on Terror suspects captured in Afghanistan and elsewhere.
When the CIA ran a LSD sex-house in San Francisco
(1.4.2016) Yet from 1955 to 1965, this building was the site of âOperation Midnight Climaxâ â a top-secret mind-control program in which CIA agents used hookers to lure unsuspecting johns from North Beach bars to what they called âthe pad,â then dosed the men with LSD and observed the X-rated goings-on through a two-way mirror while sitting on a portable toilet swilling martinis.
As John Marks notes in his 1977 book, âThe Search for the âManchurian Candidateâ: The CIA and Mind Control,â the CIAâs obsession with mind control had its origins during World War II, when the agencyâs predecessor, the Office of Strategic Services, set up a âtruth drugâ program whose purpose was to discover a substance that would make subjects reveal their secrets.
