Nun gibt es Nachfragen von Politikern, auch von Journalisten. Ziercke spricht von „Medienhatz“. Während das BKA den hausinternen Gesetzesbruch geradezu blitzschnell ausputzte, harrten die übrigen 799 Fälle von Kinderpornographie lange jeglicher Bearbeitung.

(1.2.2017) Dank der neuen Regelungen können künftig zum Beispiel auch Daten erhoben werden, die durch den Einsatz verdeckter Maßnahmen zur Abwehr von Gefahren durch den internationalen Terrorismus erlangt wurden. Dazu gehören unter anderem Änderungen zur Anordnungsbefugnis, zum Schutz des Kernbereichs privater Lebensgestaltung und zur Aufsichtskontrolle.

Ziel der Neustrukturierung ist es insbesondere, eine moderne IT-Architektur für das BKA zu schaffen. Dies erfordert den Umbau des bisherigen IT-Systems im BKA – von einer Struktur gut gepflegter, aber verschiedener „Datentöpfe“ hin zu einer hochmodernen, einheitlichen IT-Landschaft. Das Gesetz verbessert die Datenqualität und etabliert neue gemeinsame IT-Standards.

Das Gesetz zur Neustrukturierung setzt außerdem die Verabredungen zur elektronischen Aufenthaltsüberwachung („elektronische Fußfessel“) für sogenannte Gefährder um, auf die sich die Bundesminister Maas und de Maizière am 10. Januar 2017 verständigt hatten.

Today, the Washington Post published what appears to be a draft of an executive order to be signed by President Donald Trump. The order, entitled “Strengthening US Cyber Security and Capabilities,” puts flesh on the bones of the “cyber review” promised by Trump during the campaign. It spells out who will conduct the review and what its specific goals are. The order also sets a brisk pace for the review, calling for initial recommendations for the security of “national security systems” and critical infrastructure within 60 days. The review also has a 60-day deadline to provide the president with a list of “principal cyber adversaries.”
