Furthermore, the SAA‘s Desert Hawks Brigade arrived to Aleppo city on Saturday. This specialized SAA unit arrived from the eastern Aleppo countryside after it was determined that the Islamic State was unlikely to gather another assault on the Kuweiris Airbase following a series of recent territorial setbacks for ISIS in Aleppo province.

The Desert Hawks Brigade is trained specifically in ambush tactics and desert warfare. Notably, this elite SAA unit led the charge to liberate Palmyra from the Islamic State little more than six months ago.

As sunset settled over Aleppo city, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was able to halt a rapid Jaish al-Fateh offensive in the western districts of Aleppo city.

It said more than 1,500 militants from the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib to the west were attacking government-controlled districts of the city along a front stretching for 15 kilometers.

United Nations, Oct 29: The UN Security Council has „condemned in the strongest terms“ another mortar shelling on the Russian embassy in the Syrian capital of Damascus, which caused significant material damage.

Iraqi paramilitaries launched an operation on Oct. 29 to retake the town of Tal Afar from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group and cut jihadist supply lines from Mosul to Syria, a spokesman said.

Forces from the Hashed al-Shaabi, a paramilitary umbrella organization dominated by Iran-backed Shiite militias, have largely been on the sidelines since the operation to retake Mosul from ISIL was launched last week.

Turkey’s Air Forces have been unable to carry out aerial campaigns in Syria as part of the Euphrates Shield operation since Oct. 22, as Syria has activated its air defense systems over the flight of Turkish warplanes into Syrian airspace.

Countless weeks of preparation has finally led to factions allied under the banner of ‚Jabhat Fatah al-Sham‘ launching the much anticipated battle to break the siege on Eastern Aleppo. Die ohnehin vom Krieg gebeutelte Bevölkerung Aleppos steht unter Schock: Dschihadisten, die Teile der Stadt kontrollieren, zerstörten ein Schulgebäude mit einer Rakete. Sechs Kinder kamen bei dem Angriff ums Leben, mehr als ein Dutzend wurde schwer verletzt. Die Bilder der trauernden Angehörigen sind verstörend.
