Die Maßnahmen sollen nach offizieller Lesart der supranationalen Organisationen die nationale Verschuldung von Hellas reduzieren und private Investitionen ankurbeln. In der Praxis bleibt diese Theorie oftmals den Nachweis ihrer Richtigkeit schuldig.

Volleyball über Stacheldraht: Protestspiel zwischen Kroaten und Slowenen
An der Grenze zwischen Kroatien und Slowenien hat als Protestaktion ein Volleyball-Freundschaftsspiel stattgefunden. Als Volleyballnetz hat dabei der Stacheldraht-Zaun gedient, der auf Initiative der slowenischen Regierung gezogen wurde, um den Migrantenstrom aus dem Nahen Osten zu schwächen.
„Sie hätten das nicht tun sollen (den Zaun errichten – d. Red.). Besonders vor den Feiertagen, wenn Touristen das sehen können“, zitiert die Nachrichtenseite Mashable den Olympiasieger im Schießen, Giovanni Cernogoraz, der für Kroatien spielte.
