(3.August 2014) I was in the middle of such a debate this past week between people who proposed that we are being seduced to totalitarianism by the bread and circuses of Huxley’s “Brave New World” and those who thought it was through the pain and suppression of Orwell’s “1984”.

Scientists estimate that the Earth contained approximately 1,000 billion tons of carbon in living biomass 2,000 years ago. Since that time, humans have reduced that amount by almost half. It is estimated that just over 10 percent of that biomass was destroyed in just the last century.
“If we don’t reverse this trend, we’ll eventually reach a point where the biomass battery discharges to a level at which Earth can no longer sustain us,” Schramski said.

Brown from the University of New Mexico, Schramski and UGA’s David Gattie, an associate professor in the College of Engineering, show that the vast majority of losses come from deforestation, hastened by the advent of large-scale mechanized farming and the need to feed a rapidly growing population. As more biomass is destroyed, the planet has less stored energy, which it needs to maintain Earth’s complex food webs and biogeochemical balances.

Finanziert wurden die Treffen der „syrischen Opposition“, hieß es, „sogar“ aus der „neutralen Schweiz“. Bei den 45 Personen aus der „Opposition“ Syriens handelte es sich, so die in Siegesgewissheit schließlich an die deutsche Öffentlichkeit gegebenen Informationen, um Vertreter des „Syrischen Nationalrat“ S.N.C., also der Vertretung der offiziellen Invasionsstreitkräfte, „aber auch andere Kräfte aus unterschiedlichen politischen, ethnischen und religiösen Lagern“, hieß es. Hieß es im „Focus“.
In der „Zeit“ war zu lesen, dass auch Vertreter der „Freien Syrischen Armee“ an dem „klandestinen Projekt“ in Berlin teilnahmen, dass die Treffen in Räumlichkeiten der „Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik“ stattfanden, organisiert wurden vom „United States Institute of Peace“ und vom Berliner Außenministerium, sowie dem Washingtoner State Department unter U.S.-Außenministerin Hillary Clinton finanziert worden waren

(12.7.2012) Wir dürfen aber nicht den falschen Schluss ziehen, das Finanzwesen sei grundsätzlich eine Bedrohung für das gesellschaftliche System. Es macht Sinn und ist wünschenswert, dass es Geld und Kredit gibt, dass wir Ersparnisse bilden können und dass es für private und öffentliche Investitionen Finanzierungen gibt. Von daher ist eine Gewährleistung – und notfalls Stützung und Rettung – eines Finanzsystem durch den Staat richtig. Wir müssen aber die Risiken drastisch herunterfahren, die das Finanzsystem grundlegend bedrohen.

The EU has no track record of success in international peace making. Its ambition, according to the previous President, Jose Manuel Barroso, has been for some time to make the EU a new military power. In his 2012 ‘state of the union’ address, he made it clear that the aim was to build a power bloc to rival the US and China. And he clearly envisaged an EU capable of exerting military force. The world, he said, needs a Europe that is capable of ‘deploying military missions’. Former EU Commissioner, Peter Mandelson, made the point even more starkly last year when he said that the EU was no longer about peace but about power.(…)

You Can´t Be Pro-Euro and Anti-Austerity
The euro is a political project. It is unification without sovereignty. It is the delegation of national sovereignty to groups of finance ministers and supranational bodies whose main task is to suppress the reappearance of the very source of their power.
The political institutions and practices that have grown up around the euro and the EU are based on the belief that exercises of sovereignty are dangerous, irresponsible, and unaccountable. Although these institutions are in one sense nothing more than the product of agreements between nations, their raison d’être is to prevent any further, outright expression of that sovereign power. That is why they insist on total subjection to their decisions, and why Greece became about more than Greece.

Egypt drops two-year jail penalty for journalists in proposed anti-terror law
On Wednesday, Egypt´s cabinet agreed to remove the threat of jail under article 33, but replaced it with a heavy fine, the Mena news agency reported.
“The cabinet has agreed … to remove the prison sentence under article 33 and replace it by strengthening the fine, which can range from 200,000 to 500,000 Egyptian pounds [£16,000 to £41,000],” Mena said, quoting government spokesman Hossam al-Qawish.

Das ist sicherlich gut investiertes Geld, wenn der voraussichtlich an den Olympiabauten beteiligte ECE-Konzern, dessen Geschäftsführer Alexander Otto ist, schon jetzt ein paar Euros für die notorische klamme Kultur-Szene locker macht.

Wenn nun die Reformer die Kontakte zu den Grünen verbessern wollten, die in vielen Fragen ebenso Teil einer strukturell rechten Mehrheit sind wie die SPD, zeigt (sich), dass die Reformer in der Linkspartei ihre Regierungsoptionen nicht aufgeben, sondern nur auf einen längeren Zeitraum verschieben wollen.

The West props up Riyadh, and Riyadh props up a regional army of mercenaries waging relentless war on Washington and Wall Street’s enemies throughout MENA. A torrent of supplies brought in by literal convoys of trucks even streams into the war zone via NATO territory.
ISIS can in fact be considered a “colony” of Riyadh, and a reflection of the depravity actively encouraged by the West on the Arabian Peninsula for decades.(…)
Yet in most cases, particularly when these Saudi-sponsored madrases are established in Europe or North America, national intelligence and law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, the CIA, MI5, and MI6 actively participate in the cultivating, exploitation, and entrapment of radicals created within. Never is it attempted to expose and dismantle these networks, and instead, an intentional strategy of tension is created around these rat nests of extremism to promote hysteria, division, and further fan the flames of fear at home, while justifying perpetual war abroad.
US/Israeli/Saudi `Behavior´ Problems
Still, the larger issue for the American people is what to do with this insane political-media system that dominates Official Washington. Either these powers-that-be are detached from reality or they are deceitful propagandists who think they can manipulate us with lies and distortions.
Yet, by creating a false reality, whether from madness or cynicism, this system guides the nation into terrible decision-making. And, given the immense military power of the United States, this long national detour into a dark psychosis of delusion must be addressed or the future of humankind will be put into serious jeopardy.
