The Internet Never Ends: You Can Deny That Or Embrace It

Maybe the Economist‘s view of things works for people who are scared of the internet and don‘t like the endless firehose of information that‘s available, but I‘m betting that‘s a population that will be progressively shrinking, rather than growing.

FBI Uncovers Another Of Its Own Plots, Senator Feinstein Responds By Saying We Should Censor The Internet

As you may have heard, yesterday the FBI „uncovered“ yet another of its own terrorist plots, the latest in a very long line of „terrorist plots“ the FBI has „uncovered“ — in which the details always show that it was an undercover FBI „informant“ (often doing this to get off leniently for some other issue), who more or less goads hapless, naive people, into a „plot“ that had no real chance of ever happening. This appears to be the same sort of thing.

Your Parents Just Became The NSA With This Car Manufacturer’s Spying App

Problem is, if you get in an accident or some other legal trouble involving your car, that driving data your parents collect on you might have to be turned over to law enforcement, if it aids their investigation.

We’re not saying you should be allowed to get away with crimes, but if you make your parents realize they might not be the only authority figures able to use your driving data against you, they might think twice about using it in the first place.

Top UK doctors call for ban on “inherently risky” fracking

Following the decision last year by New York state to ban fracking for natural gas, a group of senior doctors and academics in the UK has called for a similar, nationwide moratorium on the extraction technique. This would extend the ban on „unconventional oil and gas extraction“ announced by the Scottish government earlier this year to the rest of the UK. The Welsh Assembly has already passed a motion against fracking, which is a highly controversial technology in many European countries and not widely deployed there.
