Tamer Faraj Sammur, 22, was shot in the chest by Israeli soldiers in western Tulkarem [IMEMC: Deir al-Ghasoon] … Hamas earlier in the day had called on Palestinians in the West Bank to participate in “Day of Anger” demonstrations in cities and villages across the West Bank in solidarity with Gaza. Israeli forces killed nine Palestinians in the West Bank in a 24-hour period last week as tens of thousands took the streets in solidarity with Gaza in the largest demonstrations since the Second Intifada.

This is tragic and embarrassing. Israel is calling the tune for the Obama administration on Gaza. In the last 24 hours since the alleged capture of an Israeli soldier by Palestinian militants, the Obama administration is now laying all blame on Hamas for Israel’s slaughter of over 1300 Palestinians in Gaza. What other nations are calling a massacre and genocide– our government is calling the Palestinians’ own fault.

Acclaimed producer and musical artist Brian Eno has written a letter accusing Israel of ethnic cleansing and asking why the United States would continue to support what he considers “a ragingly racist theocracy.”

Parliament should be recalled immediately to debate the Gaza crisis, George Galloway said today. The Bradford West MP has written to the Speaker of the House of Commons asking him for an urgent debate on the slaughter taking place in the most crowded place on earth.

„I‘ve been inundated with pleas and requests from constituents asking why parliament is not sitting whilst the catastrophe in Gaza unfolds,“ Galloway said. „MPs cannot sit on the beaches or on our hands as hundreds of Palestinians are murdered.

(28. Juli) I was told that the unofficial reason was to enable the soldiers to take out their frustrations and pain at losing their fellow soldiers (something that for years the IDF has not faced during its operations in Gaza and the West Bank), out on the Palestinian refugees in the neighborhood. Under the pretext of the so-called „security threat“ soldiers were directed to carry out a pre-planned attack of revenge on Palestinian civilians. These stories join many other similar ones that Amira Hass and I investigated in Operation Cast Lead.

Haaretz added, “According to the victims, police officers that arrived at the scene did not call an ambulance, and they were instead evacuated by passersby to receive medical treatment at a Beit Khanina [sic] clinic. They were later rushed to Hadassah University Hospital, Ein Karem in serious condition.”

Though investigators believe the beating to be racially motivated, no one has been arrested.

On Thursday, July 31, Maaleh Adumim police revoked the work permit of Hatem Abu Ziadeh, a Palestinian who served as chair of the Workers’ Committee at the Zarfati Garage.
